I have had no problems at all with it starting or running and have not gotten anymore trouble lights.

The engine seems as if it has more power than ever. As it now stands I would take it across country without giving it a second thought even with only the 300 miles on the new pump. I put it away for the winter a couple of days ago and plan to start it in about a month to see if there are any problems. I don't anticipate any.

The Walbro conversion is the way to go and a lot cheaper than the stock pump, if you could find one. Even though the dealer did mine the conversion is not hard and the peace of mind is priceless.

By the way, when I took mine to the dealer they told me I could wait until the next stock pump was available (10/26) but I declined even though that one was "free."

Good luck and keep us posted.

Lion, I too am having momentary power get cut off for a split second like you once reported. How are things now that 4 years have gone by?

Ever since I installed the Walbro pump conversion found on this site it has been fine. For the first time since all the problems I feel confident in driving it cross country and am even planning a trip to SC from here in MI.

Last summer I drove it about 300 miles from home. The stock pumps, if you can get them, are junk. Also I only run ethanol free gasoline 99% of the time. We have two stations in my area that sell it (at a high price) but it is worth it. On trips there is no other option but putting ethanol gas in until I get home.

I really believe that the ethanol in the gas is the problem of the pumps failing.

lionberger, If you're on a trip and it's the only fuel available, use it as long as you're using it up. If you're still concerned, use the green formula Stabil to treat each fill up. I agree, the ethanol in the fuel coupled with the cars sitting for long periods of time causes problems. The shelf life on E10 is four to six weeks.

I've switched to ethanol free fuel for our small engines, tractors and boats. It's made a noticeable difference in start up after storage plus eliminated carburetor and fuel line problems.

Bob,

I also use non-ethanol in everything, lawn mower, edger, snow blower, etc. Especially in my '71 Cuda which was made before all of this nonsense started. I've had a bottle of the green StaBil for several years but have not really anything to use it in since I can still get pure gas at two stations.

I wish we had some pure gas around here. Nothing close at all.

Ed,

Try this site. It is how I found a station in my own town that I didn't know had pure gas. Since you are in Cincinnati you might check Kentucky also. Hope this helps.

I swore that there wasn't anyone selling unblended gasoline near me. Found a store in the town where we buy groceries near the cottage and have been using it ever since. It has made a big difference in my small engine maintenance. They all start after sitting and I haven't had to replace a fuel line or clean a carb since I started using it. This will be the third season and the chain saw that never starts, started right up when we had to clear trees recently.

Thanks for the link. I checked OH, IN and KY. There are two that are about 40 minutes away so it really doesn't work out very well.
Okeana OH which is right on the IN border and St. Leon, IN but I think that place must be closed. We just drove past there on Sunday.
