I just purchased a set of the Conti DWS for my other car. Very reasonably priced compared to other major brands. So far very happy with them. Thanks again to everyone that threw in their 2 cents on the tire subject. |

I'm curious. To me handling is not better if the tires are hard and tend to hop when hitting ripplede bumps in the road. I put 20k miles on the gy's out of 30 odd before replacing with nons. If you're talking about how well the car corners especially at high speeds, I still say the nons 'handle' better. Now if i hit some of those rippled bumps, the car doesnt half-bounce across them. I have to ask, at what speeds do you think the rf's outhandle the non's ?? I suspect it only makes a real handling difference at speeds in excess of 100mph. So, who drives that fast on a regular consistent basis ?? |

They don't outperform regular tires at any speed. Runflats will let you limp 50 miles to a safer spot to be stranded if you are out west. East of the Mississippi you can probably make it to some city. The folks who tell you the non runflats don't perform have never driven a Prowler with non runflats so it is kind of hard for them to compare it. They are going on theory, which seems to be flawed. There is no comparison in ride and handling. Again I will pose the question, did anyone go back to runflats after using non runflats? |

I never drove a Prowler without R/F's so I can't comment on the difference on the drive, however I can say my 65 cobra replica didn't have R/F's and I was stuck on the side of a road for 6 hr's once. For me the R/F's are the way to go. |

To improve the knowledge of the less fortunate, including me, about tire construction, I suggest you read the August issue of Road & Track Tech Update about tire construction, compounds, design, etc. I now understand a little more about tires designed for the Prowler. |

I think what I posted that was runflats will get you to a city east of the Mississippi, probably. Out west you will probably still be in the middle of nowhere after 50 miles. If you prefer runflats, use them but don't tell folks they ride and handle better. They don't. |

I figured out a way to make $ millions. I will invent the first runflat motorcycle tires. All you guys who claim they handle better can post testaments as to their qualities once I get a website up and running. Most motorcycles don't have spare tires and have two different size tires. The market is huge. Wait until all those riders hear about this. I am on to something for sure. It is a win-win. Better handling and I make tons of bucks. |

Personally, I've never heard of a Prowler owner going back to run flats once they changed to non-run-flats. But that said, not many are on their third set of tires. Ride, cost and availability are key issues. |

Wow, what a harty discussion. This is a no brainer for me. The very last thing I want to hear is GT Louise giving me royal ***t on the side of a hot, dark or rainy hi-way for not re-installing run flats on RKOOLKAT !! Voila, case closed. |

This post had me thinking about new tires so I E-mailed Tire Rack and here is the reply.

I have bought all my tires from Tire Rack. From Hankooks, Continentals, Goodyears and Dunlops. It is time for new tires for the Prowler going with Continentals. I will never go back to Run Flats and if i get a flat oh well. |
