Well, after 12 years the batteries in my TPMS seem to have died (at least one of them). I got the Kat out of storage today and the low tire pressure warning light is flashing and ringing. All are at 30-31PSI. I thought I knew a lot about these cars after all of these years, but I do not know how to make the warning chime STOP. There is nothing in the manual. I have disconnected the negative terminal for a while and I'll reconnect it when I'm done here, hping that will reset the "fault" but I doubt it will work. I can cover the light over with tape to avoid seeing it, but the chime is maddening! Any help? Thanks. This message has been edited by Kevin A on 04-15-2011 at 03:34 PM |

I think you can pull the dash and unplug the monitor. |

Did you try the old trick, overfill all the tires to about 50 lbs and then reduce it to 31 ? |

I had my Kat out for the first time today and forgot to check the tire pressure. I got about 300 ft. out of my driveway and the low tire pressure warning went off. I turned around and went back to my garage and put a couple of extra pounds of air in each tire above what the sticker on the door says and it still didn't go off. I told my wife to shut the car off and then restart it and that did the trick. First time I drove it and it was wonderful! |

I've had two Optima red tops in my old cars & they both lasted a very short time. I won't listen to AC anymore, I thought he was the man. He keeps telling us how good they are. I should have listened to Ed when he told me about AC. |

Mac,,,,,,,,,you are buying those 'BLEM' Optimas trying to save money. Spend some cash and buy the fresh, good ones. '00 cat has gone 7 yrs on the Optima installed Never failed us yet! Bell told me when you install a new battery,,,you aren't sure which is the positive side, and which is the negative side. Most likely the source of your problems.... |

I hate removing trim without knowing what kind of clips I am dealing with and where they are. Kevin A, can you show the actual clips and their location on that dash? |

I want to fit one of the Orange TPMS kits that I located at a great price via POA and was dreading disconnecting the old unit. Thanks to this thread and with the help of a friend, the dash top was off in no more than a minute with no damage or worries at all. Thanks to all who posted. |

do not pry on the dash as in the photo,if you do theres a very good chance you may crack the lower dash, which is nothing but thin plastic, cracks easily.pull on each end to break it loose. ------------------ |
