I just received my new hood supports from LS Tech. The installation was easy. GREAT PRODUCT! My hood doesn't seem to want to latch completely. Before I adjust the closing mechanism, I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

THANKS..

Have done the changeover on 4 Prowlers, no adjustment was necessary on any. I would check very carefully to see that there is nothing around the hinges that is blocking full closure. JMO

I didn't have to make any adjustments and you should not have to either. The only thing that changes is the pressure. I would not try and force the issue as you might bend the hood. Give Stephen Fenner a call and he will help you.

You may also want to check the bolts on the hinges
to see if you have a loose hinge? that might be affected with the extra pressure.

2kprowler, mine didn't fit properly either - not the fault of LST - it was my car. The LOWER hood support mounts on the car are adjustable, in my case the drivers side was off (too far back)and I couldn't even connect the hood support, it was too long because the mount wasn't adjusted properly. This may be the reason for your hood not latching correctly, the hood support may be bottoming out. I had to slide the mount forward, the mounting holes are slotted. To do it: Remove the engine side panel (three bolts and the plug for the side marker light). This will give you access to the bolts that attach the lower mount. Loosen the two silver colored bolts that hold the lower mount. Loosen the nuts that attach the two under hood braces to allow the mount to slide. Slide the mount forward and tighten all of the nuts. Check to see if it is adjusted properly before replacing the engine side panel. This procedure worked for me, hopefully it will work for you also.

Thanks for the help. I am going to go out and check again to make sure nothing is around the hinges. If they are clear, I'm going to follow Snickers advice and see if this cures my problem.

Sorry for not replying to this thread sooner. I had missed this posting until this morning. Please contact us when ever there are any concerns, we are always here to assist with our products.
The length of the New Prowler Hood Supports from LST was designed 3 years ago. The Prowler that the Support Length was established from came from PA. Yes these Supports from LST are certainly longer than the originals, and you do have to raise the hood further to install them compared to the originals that you remove. The extra length, that is built into the redesign of the Support, was to accommodate the request for the Prowler Hood to open 5-6 inches higher at the front point. Due to the fact that the fender mounts are adjustable there maybe some Prowlers that have the fender mount in a slightly different location to others. I had noticed this when I was installing New Hood Supports at the Tulsa event in June 2007. In some instances when preparing to install the Hood Supports, we had to observe if both mounting points on each side were the same distance apart.
If you have any concerns with these Hood Supports whatsoever, I can be contacted over the weekend at 306-683-5000

I did not realize the hood shocks were in fact longer. Nor surprising the mounts are in different places since these cars were hand assembled.

Installed my stainless ones yesterday. Knowing that if "anything can go wrong, it will go wrong" with projects I do, I set aside an hour to do the job. To my surprise; 10 to 15 minutes was all it took.

Boy do these supports work great!

Fantastic customer service also from Steve. I ordered them the day before Thanksgiving and got them the following Monday or Tuesday. 5 or 6 days from Canada to NC over a holiday weekend!

hood supports/struts have nothing to do with how the hood latches, even if they are a little longer.if you change them and it doesnt latch, they are on wrong or you had a previous problem you never noticed.have no idea how you could install them wrong since they only install one way.i wouldn't be surprised if your hood hasn't latched since you bought the car.if you had to readjust the hood hinge it came that way from the factory, unless somebody had the hood off for some reason.
