Hi all I just ordered the new exhaust system and want to install it myself if i can. I have no experience doing this but I am pretty handy so if anyone has step by step photos of a kat done that would be awesome

thanks,

Troy - no photos, but Phil Genet's pictures are good followers. Here is what I did on install:

Backed the rear wheels up onto driving ramps. Set emergency brake!

Rolled my lard as$ under the cat and sprayed heavy dose of WD-40 on all the joints to remove. Loosen up all the clamp hardware.

Use a deadblow hammer (a must, either rent, borrow, or buy one) to knock loose the original muffler and tailpipes. When loose, drop from the rear hangers and pull the stock tailpipes out the back.

Install new muffler and then the tailpipes. Think I either dropped or loosened the two diagonal braces under the rear end to make the install go smoother. Rehook to hangers, tighten hardware clamps, and reinstall the braces. Done,,,,,,was about a 45 minute job.

Smooth as silk

Good luck

Troy - if you are asking about the Mopar/Borla stainless steel exhaust system,,,,,,NO. It is a complete new system you are going to install, no welding, just bolt right into place. When everything is in place, make sure the pipes are at the same length at the rear, then go back under car to tighten up the clamp hardware. There will be instructions enclosed.

Troy - you will really like the new exhaust. Only one downside,,,,,during the first 500 miles, you will have lots of small particles coming out the exhaust and clinging to the trunk lid. After breakin, this will disappear, and the overall sound of the Borla is a perfect mix.

Sleep good tonite, lol. Dream about WD-40 and deadblow hammers

I just put on the Mopar/Borla system on a three year old Kat with 10K miles. Backed the Kat up a set of ramps, loosened the four clamp bolts, used WD40 on the connections, popped the hangers off the rubber holders with the help of a screw driver, wiggled the parts apart by hand, slipped the new parts on, and tightened the four clamp bolts. It really was a 45 min job with a little help from my 15 year old. I did not have to remove any rear cross members to get the old parts off or the new on.

My dealer included installation with the cost of the system. In fact, he matched a real low-ball price on e-bay, charged me $10 for shipping and installed it for me.

You'll love it!

Are you going to wait for all this white stuff to melt before you take it out on the roads?

My dealer charged me $273 for the install.

If I had it to do over, I would have done it myself.
At the time I was in a hurry to get it done for a trip and I didn't think I would have the time to do it myself.

I supplied bad incorrect info. above.

The hitch install was $273.

The exhaust install was $195.

Both were high. I should have done both myself. 20/20 hinnie.

Troy - the little particles are almost metal-like, and will scratch your paint if raked across it with any pressure. Use care when washing. They are best removed by using a California Duster on the car first, and regularly between drives. Just dust off lightly and you shouldn't have a problem.
What's a deadblow hammer? (Remember now... there's no stupid questions. ) This is the first time I have heard the term.

Deadblow hammers? Rubber or vinyl coated hammers that are non-marring and shock absorbing.

Oh man, I'm sorry to see that you already hit a tree. What'd you do? Spin out and run off the track like WAYNEW? Wait a minute... sitting on a slope, stopped by a tree... there's something oddly familiar with this picture...

AC - thanks!

Hey Troy,
I have Woodward #036. I always wondered who got Black Tie #036. Now I know!!

Wonder if anyone owns or ever owned a matched Dr. Ru set. Don't ever sell your Kat, Troy, or I might have to be the first

HI MIKE,

I always kind of thought the same, but never thought I would find that out. It would be cool to own both Dr. Ru sets with the same #!! When I purchased my Cat I had a difficult time deciding between the Woodward and the Black Tie. I ran into the right deal on this Black Tie and had to buy it!! I would still love to get me a woodward ed.

Where do you live Mike?

Still in VIrginia?
