What is the story behind that Prowler? Was it really a Bush campaign car or did Pauley paint it himself? Any other history? Thanks. |

Pauley had it covered with vinyl to support Dubya, since he is a fellow Texan. That part didn't strike me at all when I saw it again. I went on a "detour" with Pauley in Texas. It was an absolute riot and one of the better times I have had in the Prowler. It is a long story that I need to tell in person. It was beyond wild. That is the part that struck a familiar chord with me, besides seeing Dan Pena in the car again. Dan got soaked twice, once while driving the car and once when Pauley dropped him off with his camera waiting for us to drive past on the way to a restaurant. Pauley has decorated the car several times. I will try to dig up other photos from the other events. He also rented a Prowler at the first Colorado event and decorated it with pink polka dots, about the size of a softball. Pauley is a larger than life character. We haven't spent a ton of time with him but the time we have spent with him has always been memorable. He always offers Sandy and myself a cigar and a drink. He has a good time, for sure. Our detour was only Sandy and me and GPS John Schultz. We took a back route to the drag strip and arrived about 2 hours late and drove through a puddle that had to be almost 2 feet deep, all the way across the road. A guy in a four wheel drive pick-up told us not to keep going on that particular road. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 10-18-2011 at 10:16 PM |

I was driving behind Pena and Gary in Pauley's cat that morning in Texas. It was an absolute downpour of rain,,,and here they are driving with the top down It didn't matter really,,,when they finally couldn't take it any longer and put the top up, I think the front top clips were broken anyway,,,along with the driver's window regulator broke and not going up all the way I been with Pauley at four or five events,,,,what a great guy. I'll always remember cruising with Pauley in Colorado, S.Dakota, and the Texas event. I'll find some more pictures and post them.... |

In Texas Dan was riding Shotgun and Gary E was driving Pauley's Prowler. With the top up Dan was filming the Prowlers driving in the rain when on his video camera screen up popped a message that the camera was shutting down due to excess moisture being detected. That is some funny video. They were getting soaked even with the top up as Ed stated. This message has been edited by BeWare on 10-19-2011 at 09:03 AM |

Then Pauley forgot to come back and pick Dan up after he dropped him off to film the Prowlers on a desolate stretch of road on the way to the Oasis. Poor Dan was standing there in the rain with no one around. Luckily Debe decided to double back and check on him and found him standing there all alone with a tarantula bearing down on him. I love Paulie - he is a great guy and there are always laughs whenever he is around. I have a picture of him at the gas pump with the hose hanging out of the side of his car right after he pulled away from the pump with the nozzle still in his tank the day that Ed and John took the "detour" with him. The funniest part about that whole thing in Texas was when a group of us stopped for lunch and Dan was telling us the story of how he got abandoned on the road!! Especially the part about him holding his umbrella while it was lightening!!! You had to be there to hear his version of the story! lol!! I remember passing him while he was out there and wondering what the heck he was doing! |

I just got done working on the prowler , loading it on to the trailer and hooking it up to the truck. Me and Sam are heading out tomorrow for Big D , OK City , KC and Iowa to go to the Field Of Dreams and listen to the World Series. then spend some time traveling the back roads of Iowa campaigning for Herb. |
