That is indeed one of my most memorable Prowler events in all my life.

I will never forget it as long as I live.

Standing out there in the middle of I do not know where and allowing Pauley to convince me to stand out there like an idiot with snakes, lions and tigers scared the youth out of me.

But it was worth it in the end. Just look at the results: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfOGq2IABVs&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

I was really scared lighting might hit my umbrella. I was thinking of closing the umbrella but it started pouring cats and dogs then I started seeing small animals move in the bushes. I also started to see big red ants starting to come out of the ground and walking around my shoes. That really started to make me think about my life.

The craziest part is Pauley never picked me up like he said he would. Later in the restaurant he start telling me he came back to look for me but was no where to be found.

Amazing Prowler event for sure!!

Marty that year we had a drought going into June and were never supposed to get that kind of rain. That was crazy!

Try to find the dry day from back in 2004. You can see Pauley's car a couple of times with his "why bother putting it up" top down.

As I so well remember, with no w/wipers,,,,,,,there was over 10" of rain in Austin alone during four days.

But the worst was the return drive from Houston back to Austin,,,,,where it had to have poured down 6/7" rain in 90 minutes, with 70mph winds, and lightning flashing down every 20 seconds

It was all Tami Fischer's fault for choosing that week for the Texas Stampede event

LOL - yes it was. That was a scary trip back from Houston. I was worried we might lose people.
I was yelled at by a few people that were upset about the rain that week.

It just shows that although it wasn't the best weather ever at a Prowler event, people still had fun.

Oh - and the "Oasis" burned down right after that and was rebuilt and expanded. It's a great place to have a cocktail and watch the sunset rom several hundred feet above Lake Travis.

Might have to make that a stop during the Prowler event being planned for 2013. Ot at least an option for one of the "on your own" days.

In the video clip from 1:25 to 1:37 is the storm you are talking about from Houston to Austin. Lightning was spiking in the foreground and rain like crazy. More interesting because I was alone shooting that stuff without directions back to the resort. Wasn't that the night Lake Travis rose 6 feet overnight?

Only problem with Lake Travis is, lack of water. I'd heard it was down 60'. Nice view of the bottom.

Down 52.84 feet. It's been as low as 14 feet less back in during the 1950's drought

I remember the puddles in the entrance ramps, which were temporary ramps, filled with a foot of muddy water.

C'mon Sister Tami......don't you know that event hosts are supposed to be able to control EVERYTHING!!! lol

Dan......I wish I'd had a video camera at that lunch filming you as you were telling your story. I don't think we all laughed so hard in a long time!!

LOL - I have not been that upset that the person that yelled at me the most has never shown up to another thing, but I heard she kept in contact with Ed for quite some time after the event!!

Tami,,,,,that N.M. gal sold her Prowler in '09 to a guy in Phx, and he kept it a year or so, and sold it. Its now in Prescott,Az.

She had a 'thing' for Ed,,,,,,,,,,,played 'footzies' with Ed at a Wendy's one day for lunch. She asked me if he was single,,,which I couldn't lie, and told her he was single. She said he would be an excellent catch
I'm not sure what she (Jane's Zoo) was thinking,,,but we gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Ed told her if we have another Texas event, with Tami in the planning group,,,we'd invite her back again with or without a Prowler. She was so glad about how cordial you were with her and getting her upgraded to a better room.

Gatlin,,,,,you were lucky to be in the front group returning to Austin. Larry Pennington, Mickey, and I got delayed quite a while in Houston,,,,,because one Houston guy didn't have enough gas to make it to Austin,,,and its a long story after that. We were the last group to leave Houston, I'm sure, and the weather got horribly worse,,, the later it got. We finally had to pull off the highway into a gas station with a giant canopy to protect our cars from the hail. A young girl was running the station and wanted to lock the doors due to the storm and possible power outage. She told us to stand outside in the rain and lightning,,,which we refused to leave. Two hours there waiting out the storm....and we finally made it back to Austin after midnite.

MEMORIES,,,,,I'd rather forget, lol.
