Many members have tried many places all across the country with no luck, but it doesn't hurt to try. Good Luck.

Here's a $50,000 question. You can't swap PCM's because it looks elsewhere to compare info and it needs to match. Where is that? Body controller? If that is so would it stand to reason that if both items were swapped from say, a wrecked Prowler it would then work but register a different vin and mileage?

I see your reasoning, It may have to be out of the same year too. I don't know about the TCM, it is also connected to the PCM.

Apparently someone knows how to do it if the dreaded Prowler store is fixing them.

The TCM is a stand alone in that it is swappable between cars without a need to program. Been there, done that.

What about between years, do all TCM's have the same part number? I will have to research that.

I just checked the Prowler Store and their TCM's all have different part numbers.

I would think that for 2001 and 2002 there would be software changes to accommodate new torque converter design. Other than torque converter, 2002 changes appears to be general on going refinements to the TCM.

Just my assumption, not fact.

From "The Garage" page;

2001 Torque Converter change

The torque converter change was an early introduction in 2001 production (October 2000) to update the lockup feature with a dual rate damper system which would better match the engine to the converter. Part number 4736427AC (was 4736815AA).

2002 Model year changes-

Colors: Inca Gold Pearl and Deep Candy Red added.
Low Tire Pressure System (LTPS) Generation II system: smaller, lighter transmitters and revised receiver. (Same system used on 2002 mini vans and Grand Cherokees)
Engine controller: updated to 2001 code
Transmission controller: torque management fault updates, refinements for overdrive clutch protection, kickdown shift quality and grade hunting.
