Finally I made my 2015 contribution to the site. It was at this time I noticed the following and it got me to thinking. According to the contribution page, POA Contributions this year to date (2015): equal only $260.00 however there is no count regarding how many donations were made. While I expect there have been more than thirty folks that have contributed so far. I sincerely expected the contribution amount to be much larger especially with the value of the site each of us receives on a regular basis. Just food for thought. Keep in mind that most of the donations mentioned here occurred late in 2014 so wouldn't reflect in the calendar year to date number. Most of my clubs start in November collecting their 2015 dues so I started this thread about that time. Most likely screws up Mike's records but every contribution helps support this great site. |

I am glad someone brought this up so it could be clarified. The other day I looked because I was nosy curious and it was $160. I was shocked when I saw the total. Just curious what the total was for 2014? This message has been edited by Landscape Doctor on 01-11-2015 at 04:08 AM |

Just another food for thought because I am a numbers kind of guy. There is about 10,000 registered members, not quite sure the exact amount but that is a good round number. If 2,500 active members out of the 10,000 gave $4 each, that's about 2 Dunkin Doughnuts coffees that would equal $10,000. With that amount this site could be launched out of the Stone Age, please take no offense Mike and Bob just trying to help you out. And we would be able to load pictures from our ipad or iPhone like other updated sites. I know you said you were working on it already Mike and I thank you for that. I can not even imagine what time, energy and money it takes to run a site. It does not run by itself that is for sure. Sorry for the rant but I had to get that out. Thank you for all of your replies and concerns about the site. On the contribution page, We have always kept everyone aware as to what has been taken in during the current year. For those interested, the total amount received for previous years are: 2014 $6434.00 In 2014, the site broke even, in the previous years, we simply paid the difference out of pocket to keep the site running. By the way, we own our server and pay for rack space, tech support and bandwidth by the month. Upgrading the site this year and keeping all of the history intact and interactive will be an expensive proposition and will require custom conversion software that won't come cheap, nor will the support that will be required after the conversion to make sure everyone has a smooth transition. I will move forward this year to make it happen and ask that you consider how important your Prowler is to you and how much information that you have, or will gain from our site in the past and for years to come. We ask that you please keep the contributions coming to help cover the additional costs that will be required this year.

Gary, excellent point. Most owners have never heard about POA. Maybe we should make up a small hand out with our individual contact information and introducing the site to fellow owners that we meet. People seldom have anything to write on at a show or while traveling. CJ uses a business card with her contact info and the site. Maybe the reverse side should provide instructions on how to access and join the no cost club. Maybe this year in addition to making a small donation we should focus on member get a member. Everyone could be an ambassador for the club. There's nothing better than a personal invitation. Another focus could be to contact those that have fallen away and personally invite them back. There are events going on around the country for members to get together. The more the merrier. Maybe Mike can add "how did you hear about POA" to the signup. |

We touched on this a few threads ago but let's bring back the POA windshield banner. It's instant contact info for people and at $25 or so, would be a good profit margin for the site. I would buy one immediately. Hopefully Mike will see this and pass it on to those who can make it work. If it came in prowler colors, that would be good too. |

This is true Andria. I used to post under the name fibertop. That is the name of a product, my company used to make. When I sold the company, the name no longer seemed appropriate and I wanted a cool cat name like everyone else (except Andria). The year ahead thing denotes membership in a special status group. The only other member I know of is stingray but there might be others. Unfortunately, we are not at liberty to discuss this special status with the general members. Just know that we are special . |
