The new thing in this day and age for "high tech" events is electronic badges that can be used to trade and collect contact information. |

Most people in my orgn wear lanyards w/from 1 to 3 or 4 badges attached everyday...I refuse to wear one so I attach my badge directly to my shirt via a alligator type clip [AC, remember those when your weed got too short?]. I musta been hanged in an earlier life, cuz I just cannot wear anything like that around my neck--nope, no ties either! |

how did we get off the name tag talk,it was about a shirt and because someone stuck their 2 cents where it doesn't belong. This message has been edited by meandmykitty on 02-25-2006 at 01:19 AM |

NOTE: See image in next post Here's a first sample. The car in the logo would be in your car color (not yellow as in the sample)and the border on the badge in car color also. Size is 3" x 5" so that type can be large enough to see when at events. Note that the image at the bottom will be taken from your avatar. We have thought about credit card size that would fit in a wallet but kept going back to these being intended for events, cruises etc where being able to read the names is important. As we proceed we will post advance notice so people have time to update their avatar if ghey wish to get exactly the image they want on the nametag. Give Geno the credit - he's the one that did the sample. One question is do we make it an event namebadge and include "Louisvile 2006" or leave Louisville name off so people can use it at other events. |

JMO, I WOULD PUT LOUISVILLE 06 ON THE BADGE, THAT'S WHAT THE BADGE IS FOR, RICK |

JUST WONDERING, THEN WHY WASN'T THERE TAGS MADE A LONG TIME AGO TO USE OVER AND OVER AT OTHER EVENTS, LIKE FROM THE DELLS OR EVENTS FROM YEARS BEFORE, ANYTHING WORKS. I'M CHANGING MY NAME ANYWAYS I HAVE TO BE SAFE. RICK |

Gee Rick - I guess I'm just smarter than the previous event planners! ? I don't know why it hasn't been done in the past. I've planned or helped plan at least four other POA events and never thought about it until now. If there weren't any new ideas everything would stay the same forever. |

WE LEARN NEW THINGS EVERY DAY, IF YOU MAKE NAME TAGS FOR LOUISVILLE WITHOUT LOUISVILLE ON IT, I GUESS IT SAVES THE NEXT GUY TIME AND MONEY FOR NAME TAGS FOR THEIR EVENT, BUT WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE WE PAY FOR THE NAME TAGS ANYWAY'S |

I like the idea of generic name tags. Event planners could then focus on logos for shirts and / or buttons. Name tags are much more labor intensive. This message has been edited by Wayne Finch on 02-26-2006 at 09:47 PM |

This was discussed at length in the past and never acted on. I agree with it. The problem will be getting matching badges for first time event participants so we need to make sure we have a continuing supply of blanks. |

Marty, Why is your name on the badge 3 times? Just a recommendation: For those whose real name matches POA name, list like this example: For those whose name does not match POA name, list like this example. The last name should be optional: I would chop out the text "POA NAME". The more text you take out, the larger fonts you can use. Also, consider printing them horizontal instead of vertical. This will also allow you to use larger fonts. For reference, here is the badge format I used for the Smokies, designed to maximize font sizes: I like the idea of using the avatars on the badge. |

I like the idea of a generic name tag with name and user name. The lanyards could have the events name on it and just reuse the name tag every year. |

I too like the Generic tag idea and being able to access them from this site. Keeping it basic like the one marty has shown. I like the avatar idea but adds to the work whom ever is producing them. Name They would come in useful at local and national meets or events. |
