I am still debating with the insurance company. I had all of my antique vehicles insured with state farm. They all had an guaranteed value. When I switched over to universal underwriters, my rep told me I could have the same coverage with them and cancel my state farm policy. So I did that, assigned a value for all of my antique vehicles and the prowler. I am still debating with universal because they state my policy reads that the vehicle is covered for the wholesale value. They keep wanting to know what I paid for the prowler and I keep telling them that it does not matter that I had a guaranteed value of $36k. Then on top of that I have documents that show I put another $10K into mods, etc. over the past year. So basically I figure they owe me the stated value plus the mods. I keep telling them that I did not cause the accident and to settle it with the other guys insurance. I am still waiting. I did talk to the adjuster and the kat is totaled, so I guess that I don't have to worry about rebuilding it. If anyone has any advice on how to handle this without getting my attorney involved please let me know.

thank you,
chris

Chris,

Good luck dealing with the insurance weasels.

Just curious. Why are you negotiating with your insurance company and not the guy's company who caused the accident? Is PA a "no fault" state like CA?

I have seen a lot of claims settled quickly if the claimant starts rubbing the back of his neck. Then mention that the neck has started hurting. Maybe ought to wait a while to see if the neck starts hurting worse!

Chris,

Sorry to hear that you are having such trouble. Maybe I can help. I've dealt with insurance companies for years and I frequently give depositons to insurance adjusters about collisions I have investigated.

If the other driver has insurance and was cited as the causation unit (at fault)in the accident then your insurance company should just be representing you to make sure you get a fair settlement from the other guy's company.

When you pay for auto insurance you aren't just paying for repairs and medical...you also pay for their representation. It is in your insurance company's best interest to make sure the other guy's company pays you what you are do....so you don't come after your company for a settlement.

Also...if you have uninsured coverage it probably inculdes under-insured coverage too. Basically, if the other driver's coverage isn't sufficient to cover your loss, then your insurance company should pay the difference.

Call your guy up and tell him that you want some representation for all the money you've been paying!

Best of luck!

ZACK

Glad your OK, as others have said, the Prowler can be replaced.

Don't let up on the insurance company. They will try to wear you down so you will finally accept their offer just to get it over with.

Michigan is a "No Fault" state and it is a royal pain. I can also help you if you decide to look for a new cat. I have a list of all untitled Prowlers from DC.

Hope everything works out okay.
