Let's see,,,,,,I let one lady friend drive the Alley Cat once,,,,MadMax drove it once,,,,my friend Mark once,,,,and my g/f Lethia has driven it several times and many miles. My list stops there,,,,I wouldn't want a friend to be involved in a accident with it and feel miserable about it. This way,,,at the end of the day we all depart with a smile,,,and remain friends.

I made the remark in Mountain Home that ONLY T Bucket people are qualified to drive a Prowler, because they are used to things that hang down (like oil pans) and they are aware of them at all times. I've NEVER rubbed the nose on mine and probably never will because of my many miles in the driver's seat of a T Bucket!

I read this a couple of times and thought about it. How does everyone else feel about it? It's always interesting to me when I hear an opinion different than my own. I honestly don't think the Prowler is hard to drive. Yes - you have be be careful with the nose and there is a blind spot with the top up. But you (or at least us short folks))can't se e the front end on a lot of cars and blind spots are common. Prowlers are small, nimble, and responsive. They track well and I felt comfortable driving it the first time I sat behind the steering wheel. I've let my 76 year old mother in law drive it as well as teenagers - now I know a lot of you won't do that, but my point is other than stressing to others about the length of the front end and watching the nose, I don't think the car is card is hard to drive.

Any opinions?

Marty - I will say the cat needs to be "learned to drive",,,maybe not difficult. I say that meaning the 'open' right front tire/wheel is in no man's land until you 'learn' to drive the car for awhile and know where it is. Making right turns,,parking in tight spaces,,are just two thoughts that come to mind - you have to know where that front right is at or trouble is ahead. I've heard of one owner tearing off the right front wheel and suspension making a right turn, right after buying the car,,,,and I'll bet there are many cats with scraped right front wheels where they rubbed a curb.

You mention the nose of the cat as being a troublesome spot. So true,,,it took me only 7 miles to put the nose on a curb. Probably half the cats or more have scraped underside noses - the thrill of victory,,and agony of defeat! The Prowler is a small car, yet from where you sit in the cabin area you are TEN FEET from the front nose of the cat. Sounds impossible I know,,,go measure it.

So I'll lean towards agreeing with the statement about being difficult to drive,,,,at least until you "learn to drive" the car. JMO

Before I got the car I was warned of the front end length, and the wheel position, so I was always careful and have had no problems. When I did let friends drive the car, I made sure to explain how far the nose goes and to watch for the wheels. I haven't had any problems with that, just the top situation. I don't think its hard to drive, park etc, but then again I normally drive a full size extended cab beast of a truck.(I do live in Texas you know)

A/C,

To add to your comment. I met a guy the other night at a local cruise night with a Purple 99. I guess his rims have hit their share of curbs so much he wanted to buy my original Silver rims that I have stored in my cellar. I declined his offer. Actually...he never even threw a price at me.

The Prowler DEFINITELY takes a little getting used to.JMO

It's only a car. Friendship is priceless.

Well said Larry. I can always buy another car........but finding good friends and memories to share.....that's not so easy!

My Wife, my Dad, my cousin, my Sister-in-Law and 3 friends have driven it. I have let anyone who has asked let drive it. I have offered to let others drive it and they have declined because they were afraid something bad might happen, so I've given them a ride. I let a friend/neighbor drive it while he was going through chemo and that was the last time I saw him smile real big.

The engine messed up while my Sister-in-Law was driving mine Sunday. I wasn't her fault at all, but she feels guilty & she calls me twice a day asking about the car. She says she wishes she had never driven it, but I tell her it wasn't her fault and if I didn't let others drive it I would have never seen that big smile on my friend Tom's face that last time.

Once my engine situation is resolved, even though I'll be more reluctant, I'll still let others drive it.

Congratulations to Wade and Jennifer - Two Very Great People starting a new life together... their first few miles in a Prowler... the rest... well... who knows what's to come!

...I have let numerous persons drive the different Kats thru the years...funniest was 2 girls(really cute) asked to borrow one for a senior prom, I gave them brief instructions on what not to hit or run over and the next day they brought the car back gassed and waxed.....the Kat was everywhere the day and the night of the prom...they had their senior prom pix shot with the car too....I have loaned many Kats/Vipers out for kids to have their senior pictures taken with too...

...next month a bunch of my friends are taking several of my cars to a homecoming parade....
