Well this issue is certainly moving along. If it is a safety issue would it be addressed if mods were made? Bet not! |

I e-mailed photos to Alcoa and spoke with one of the people on the Automotive Design something something, anyway they asked me a bunch of questions and it was decided I should mark the crack and look at it everyday on Power Tour to see if it grows then when I return to take it into the dealer to get the ball rolling to get it repaired. The location of the crack does not concern me at all in regards to safety or I would not be making this trip. Alcoa and DC have addressed my questions and we are all in agreement on what needs to be done but it needs to be done in starting with the dealer inspection. ------------------ |

Bob - I am happy to hear they are willing to work this out for you. Better yet that you don't feel it is a safety issue at this point and will be coming along on Power Tour! It sounds like DC and Alcoa are being as responsive as they can be given that the dealer inspection hasn't happened yet. It's a major bummer for you to have to work through it though. |

Bob - Any update on the frame issue? Did the crack enlarge during the Power Tour? |

Steve once I get caught up a little I will raise the car and look and give a update. I have a appointment next Tuesday to take it to the dealer to start the claim. Good news is the car made it down and back I did reach under the car a few time to feel if anything major was going on and it seemed fine. ------------------ |

I did run the car over Thursday night to my buddies dads frame shop, he specializes in Aluminum truck dump trailers. He has a tool for checking cracks, it has what looks like a suction cup and they put 120 psi of air to it and then let it sit for 10 minutes to see if it leaks down ( similar to a compression tester ) well it stayed at 120. Also I marked it before I left for Power Tour and it did not grow in 3000 miles. I will still have my Prowler Tech check it out Tuesday and see what happens from there. ------------------ |

quote: Actually, Ed it is not stock. Holes were drilled in to mount the trailer hitch and when I bought it two of teh welds on the back were broken and I had them repaired at a fabricators shop and I have grinded on the frame rail on front of the rear wheels. However - the gascap lid IS still stock. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 06-21-2005 at 05:39 PM |
