Well got back last night, I am really sorry I did not get to hook up with all the POA people in attendance. Larry and Lethia, he tried to sneak up on me by hiding behind Lethia but I caught him and we made a Lethia sandwich! ( I kinda liked it! ) Steve Conley, was great to meet you after talking on the phone. Thanks for stopping by! Scott Ambrose, Great to see you and sorry for venting a little it was a rough day! Ron, George and William, wished I could have hooked up for dinner Thursday but had to talk to some people about a job... more to follow. Cnote and David, glad you stopped by, David you should have come with Cnote Wednesday night we had a BLAST!!!!! I did not start getting my hangover until 2 PM Thursday. THANKS KICKER AND KMC WHEELS. Bob L., CJ he was missing you every minute of every day!!! It was good seeing you in your new job position, the head production person on the set gave me a crap about taking you over to see Chip, my reply was he is a LONGGGGGG time friend of Chips if you have a problem with it take it up with Chip, it was not even 10 minutes later and Kenny Youngblood comes over and she stopped him at the entrance and Kenny as you know is so laid back he just turned around... well I walked him thru and she started following me to stop it and Chip spotted him dropped what he was doing to great him..... I just turned and looked at her and said.... I have been around these people for 20 years and you have only been around them for what 1 year... if they are not important I will not bring them thru so back off. Kenny will be on a up coming Overhaulin show!!!! Now update on me working for these people...... after seeing how they operate in person I had to decline a full time position, they wanted me because of my contacts at retail and with some vendors. When they take a person and put them in charge of who gets in and who does not that is more interested in free t-shirts and hats and talking to her boy friend on the phone and turns David Frieburger and Cole Quinell from Hot Rod Magazine away from taking photos on the set along with the rest of the weeks BS they are really not a company I am willing to up root and change my life for. I will continue reping for them at retail but thats about it. I talked to a few other companies but at the moment am still looking so I guess you will all need to put up with me for awhile longer. ------------------ |

Hey Bob - I commend you for being able to look at a situation and realizing even when they are throwing a lot of money at you hat you just do not feel comfortable with their situation. Much better to make a decision before you pack up and move 2000 miles. On the other hand, maybe getting stuck in So. California wouldn't be all that bad. Winters are just a tad warmer there than Minnesota. I'll bet the lady you are talking about either isn't there much longer or someone has a talk with her to change. I guess this means - at least for now - I get to look forward to Bar Q Days again and seeing your Custom 32 HiBoy Production operation. |

Judging from some of the posts, Bob, is it possible that this gal was particularly appealing? You do what sells.... at a sales meeting, right? |

Back from SEMA. Still very tired! For those that may wonder about the picture that CNote posted: David N on left, me, Norm Brandes of Westech Automotive fame and Bob Keller from Turbonetics. He was inducted into the SEMA Hall of Fame Thursday night. Bob G, I don't care what anyone says, you looked very professional. Sorry about the business deal but it's better that you found out before you took the leap. I figured out quickly that the staff on the set of Overhauling weren't prepared for all of the visits that Chip received from his friends in the industry. He's earned their respect. They must not know what the SEMA Show is all about. Film the show on a set or at the shop. David Frieberger is now the group editor of Hot Rod and Car Craft. The promotion came about a month ago. The last that I knew, Cole Quinell was at DCX in PR. Bob knew more about who should visit the set than the people managing it. Thank goodness that Bob cared enough not to turn Chip into an Orange County Garage, without his knowledge. It was good to see everyone from POA. This was my first year with a new company. Sorry that I was difficult to track down. Our booth was out of the way. I remedied that for next year. CJ will be back next year, count on it. CNote, did you see any wheels or were you checking out the head lights? As to attending the Dub party, stay tuned...... This message has been edited by RPL on 11-08-2004 at 02:12 PM |

Just like everyone else. I spent 2 days at the show and my feet still hurt. It was nice talking to Bob Goetz and Bob Longstreth. I wish I could of meet up with the other POA members in attendance. Maybe next year. ------------------ |

Bob G. .... Reading about Overhaulin's Producer not knowing anything about the show she is running is so damn sad. I get so disgusted to see massive talent run by ignorant leeches who have no idea about the history of the craft or the people who make it happen. I bet if you asked her who Von Dutch was, she would have this blank look on her face right before she calls her boyfriend again. Chip Foose himself looks like a great person to work for...just based on how he conducts himself on the show...as compared to Boyd who looks like a monster to work for. |

You are right Chip is the most down to earth guy you will ever meet. Chris and Courtney also are wonderful people the three of them would stop to talk or sign autographs if they were not on camera or had to get there. The producer of the show is also a great guy, its just a few of the people that work for him are just not as informed or in the know about a lot of the auto industry and that is to bad. I think RPL will agree with me on this, the customizers, magazine people and long time manufactures are a lot like this Prowler group, they consider the people in the group as a extended family and every once and awhile a little fight breaks out but everyone gets over it, but don't dare be an outsider and come in and piss on anyones cheerios's right away cause the family will not forget. You need to pay you dues and bite your lip and give it a little time and they will open their arms to you, then you can be the crabby old cousin. It just goes back to that old saying "Treat people the way you would like to be treated" ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 11-10-2004 at 08:38 AM |

I hear ya Bob. Foose comes across as a great guy who would take the time to help anyone. It's a shame you had to pass up a great opportunity after seeing the numnutz you would have to answer to....You could have been a great asset to the show. So when we gonna see you on Monster Garage? huh??? |

Bob, I couldn't agree more about the "hot rod family." Many of this group came to our party on Tuesday night to get away from it all. A single hand grenade would have virtually wiped out the US hot rod industry. It was fun to stand back and watch Boyd let his hair down, laughing with Pete Chapouris, Roy Brizio, Bobby Alloway, Angelo G., Jack Trepanier and the whole crowd. The rest of our guests respected their privacy for the most part with an occasional hello. Chip apologized the next day saying that he heard everyone had a great time. These guys are pulled every which way during the Show. I wanted to give them a place to get together with no strings attached and simply enjoy a quieter moment together. I'd bet they they all come again next year and bring the few that weren't about to make it this time. |

MG Never, I am still reping for them but the decision was based on a lot of things, my position would not have been with the show production company but for the retail distribution company. Life goes on and as it looks I'll make more money this way it will just take a little longer. Upside is I will be doing a lot of traveling in the next 6 months and hope to meet up with more Prowler owners. ------------------ |

Myself and Cnote left this party when this type of behavior started, we would never go someplace that things like this would happen. I mean teasing a short person is just not nice. ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 11-11-2004 at 11:15 AM |
