There are some pretty scary pictures out there...but the fact that everyone is O.K. counts.
I hear there is another hurricane reaching Jamaica today....unreal!

This is getting tiresome.

Ivan, which is now a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 160 miles an hour, damaged or destroyed 90% of the homes on Grenada in 2 hours (apparently turning concrete homes to rubble). They just announced they're evacuating the Florida Keys effective immediately - non residents and those who live in Mobile Homes have to leave today, everyone else is ordered to leave as of 7am tomorrow (Friday). I'm afraid things aren't lookin' too good at this point. There is the possibility that Ivan will stay far enough west to miss the west coast of Florida initially, but most of the models have it hitting Florida at some point. The national hurricane center has it as a direct hit. See below:

Here's another view:

Did I say this is getting tiresome? I meant to say

THIS SUCKS.

CJ, the good thing out of all of this is if we survive, we may never see another one for quite a few years to come. WE had not had a major one in 44 years here in Daytona Beach, so if it goes another 40 yrs. (of course after Ivan), I won't be around!

Yes, that photo shows a pool filled with sand.

Wally,

I agree with you. Besides, I have seen more damage from Ice storms up north. I'd rather be without power for a week in the heat then be without power in freezing temperatures. I guess it goes to show you that no place is perfect. If you find a prefect place to live let me know....I'll move.

CJ....still would rather live in FL anyday over MI.

Okay!! You keep FL and I'll keep MI!

Spoons.......you're right........if everyone wanted to live in the same place, the country would be pretty lopsided! lol! Everyone's idea of the best place to live is just as different as which Prowler color is the best!!

Well, I guess it's our turn to take the heat off South Florida. Waiting for Ivan (The Terrible).
