I knew this thread would not be easy and I was serious to try and find a ansewer. Cars seem to all fit into a catagory of some sort, luxary cars, sports cars, ponycars, musclecars, suv's,trucks, etc but our Prowlers do not seem to fit into any of these. I know we all feel our cars are special, but when I was watching American Muscle car and they were talking about the Trans Am, I started wondering when (and they will) do a show on the Prowler what will they refer to Our Cars as. |

The Prowler is a rolling celebration of new technology and materials - a hot rod for the modern man/woman. It has the muscle and power of a charging rhino and the style and panache of JD, LLord, BlockB, ObiWan, MeanCat, BeWare, Dr P, blubyu,PhilJane,DPena, Dustis,*_____ . It is one of the few concept cars that has made it into the real world and boy can this baby turn heads. *who else did I miss?, fill in the blank... |

it is an Orphan......there is no name that fits it exactly...........A SPECIAL INTEREST CAR? I have shown mine in Special interest, sports car, exotic sports I just tell everyone it is a go cart with a great stereo and AC Hot Rod, It has the look and feel, but NO PRIMER showing or rusted parts Disrespected, most definately, most people perceive it as a six cylinder car and give it not respect. There are other 6 cylinder cars that get more respect, Buick Grand National, but I bet few know they are 6's that see them on the street. Whatever anyone wants to call it we know it is COOL to drive ------------------ |

My insurance company listed it as a 2 seat roadster. I guess in the same category (but not the same class) as a Miata or Honda S-2000? I can't complain since my rate is a little less than my 2004 F-150. But for my money Hot Rod seems to fit best. I get the most positive feedback from the older guys in my town. I guess it takes them back a few years, and I enjoy talking with them. |

I don't see anywhere where a car has to be old to be considered a hot rod. Like em' or not, these modern imports all modded out are just as much hot rods as any other car. hot rod is an attitude/ truly modified car more than a specific piece of sheetmetal or specific era.... I still consider my Prowler a tribute to a hot rod, but a tweaked drag Prowler like the one Mike K. has...or Dean's wicked Prowler with those stacks coming out of the hood....well, they have a HOT ROD! |

In 30 years (since several have referenced that number) I will look at the Prowler through cataracts, my grandkids will be installing the 18th engine (number 4 goes in this fall) and it will have over 1,000,000 miles on it ---- I call the Prowler the coolest car ever manufactured. I believe most people think of it as a Hot Rod except the purists that own Street Rods. Based on the mechanicals and being a two seat convertible it is a sporty, upscale, retro styled boulevard cruiser. |

Yeah the purists definately don't like it. We tried to put stone colds in the Roadster class at a car show over the weekend, and they said no because it was too new... |

quote: I would be really curious to have known how many Roadsters in that class were built with newly manufactured frames, bodies, motors, suspension etc. Most Roadsters or Hot Rods now days are no older than the Prowler I have no problem with the Prowlwer not being classed as a Hot Rod but neither should they. Many are a kit car when you get right down to it. JMO |

Two years ago they would not let us into a car show but they had a bunch of Superformance Cobras. I asked why, and they said because they were kit cars. That made absolutely no sense to me. A 2002 Cobra kit car was acceptable but a Prowler was not. Their loss, in my opinion. |

The first year I had my car, I took it to a show in Frederick Maryland. I called first to see if it would be allowed and I was told it would be. When I got there to register, they turned me away. The three cars that registered right behind me were Vipers....go figure. |

A friend called me this eve. and asked if I was going to enter a car show at Ameristar Casino this Sunday and I said no, then I asked if there was even a class that covered my car. He went through 19 classes and not 1 fit my Prowler. I told him that I was going to a car cruise at J.J.s (a restarant in St. Charles Mo.) Sat. eve. anyone can attend and no rules on what cars are allowed. When I was pres. of a club here in St. Louis (Street Machines Unlimited I started this club because I got tired of clubs only interested in my car not me). We had a class called Special Intrest for cars that did not fit any other class. I dont think any show in St. Louis would turn a Prowler away but they may not have a correct class to put our cars in. I disagree Tytanium-K A car club should be for the members not the cars. The Coachmen of St. Louis just wanted to ditch the wives and go get drunk, The St. Charles Street Machines were interested in me only based on my car. When I sold my lowrider and bought a Formula Firebird they no longer were interested in me joining their club. The club I started had the largest turnout 1 month later at the ISCA custom auto show in St. Louis, The Coachmen help put on this show and did not want to give us a club participation award stating that we may not last. WE did over 10 years. Barry How many people belong to POA and do not have a Prowler just wish they did? |

I guess I see it as a car club is suppose to be for *people* with like intrests, such as Prowler people or Mustang people to get together and share their love for their cars. Car shows are a place to show off what we have or have done to our cars, something that we are proud of. I dont care for car shows as much as I do car cruises as car shows are too political and a lot of times you hear people complaining that their car should have won, sometimes it should have, sometimes not. Both car clubs and car shows are really intended for fun and enjoyment. People need to open their minds, loosen up and just enjoy our hobby. If you take 100 cars and put them on display and take away the people, you have a parking lot. People make the hobby the cars are just our focal point. Barry |

The Prowler to me is the ultimate automotive definition of "COOL". But if I had to put it in a class I would say it is a Copperfield.......as in David........because when you pull into a parking lot with a Prowler all of the other cars disappear. LOL |

I have posted this before but there are a lot of newer people that may have missed it. Last year at Auburn, IN. after the parade, I parked across from a restaurant about a half block from ground zero. The car was probably photographed 100 times within an hour. People were posing next to it, etc. Nothing unusual there UNLESS you consider the fact that there were several hundred CORDS, AUBURNS and DEUSENBERGS parked within a block. Those cars are worth hundreds of thousands, up to a half million dollars. Pretty impressive for the little old orphan car. Priceless. |

With regard to this car club.......I have made this statement many times..........because I believe it to be true..... The Prowler is the common interest that brought us all together.........but it is the friends that we have made here is what keeps us coming back. |
