In the past, a number of you had asked about how many Prowler trailers were built/sold. My Mopar contact, Rick, was able to obtain this information for me to share with all of you. The list below reflects the color / wheel type, Part numbers and the number of trailers built each year by color. Mike will be able to incorporate this list in the website to help complete the Prowler history. I also wanted to mention that the last trailer was painted purple and given to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum collection to be with the purple Prowler they also have. I was really glad to see them do this. I thank Rick for pursuing and sharing this information with us. He also asked me to tell everyone Happy New Year and safe cruising in 2004!! Gene, These stats came from the vendor who painted and assembled the trailers. The Hi-Voltage Blue was a built trailer of another color that was repainted to match the Prowler. |

I agree w/ cnote6 - I also thought there would have been more. It is fitting that the last one matches the original color & was given to the museum. Great info CJ. Please say thanks to your contact for us! Maybe MK can scratch thru HV-Blue to find its original color, just to keep the data (history) totally up to date? Just kidding. Firegabe.............Prowler production was scheduled for early 1997. There were some problems with the tub parts fitting properly and rather than assembling something that was not going to be right, production was delayed for several months until they got the problem straightened out. By the time production proceeded, it overlapped into the next model year so they decided to skip a 98 build year. They were unable to produce as many 97s as was planned because of the late start. The Prowler trailer production continued in 1998 and I am assuming that the vendor that assembled and gave the trailers their serial numbers registered those built in 98 as 98s. Just a little more trivia.... |

CJ, My wife and I visited the Chrysler Museum about a month ago to buy a X-Mas tree ornament. While there, we were disappointed to find that the museum had absolutely nothing on Prowlers on display. They not only didn't have a trailer, they didn't even have a Prowler on display. In fact, even the museum store had nothing on Prowlers, except for the Prowler tree ornaments. |

Nice info to have. Let's keep this one. DC extimated 20% of the Prowler owners purchased trailers. I'm sure glad we have one if only 10% were purchased. Gordon |

Kraut, Bob Tate, Mgr of the gift store is working with a new vendor and he promises me that he will be ordering new Prowler stuff soon. With regard to the Museum, I know that they used to have the purple Prowler in the "garage" in the basement. They change their displays often with themes of specific cars. The Prowler needed to be repainted also, as it was (in the past) the only car that the public was allowed to actually sit in. Needless to say, it didn't fair well. It could be that they are working on that to get it ready to put back in the museum. Next time I speak to Bob I will ask him if he knows when we might see it again! In addition, they are working on a website for the museum which will then allow them to have more inventory and you can order online. Not sure when it will be up and running, but sometime soon. |
