Looks similar to the Kat, but costs close to $60K, is powered by a 4.6-liter, 305-hp V-8 borrowed from the Mustang Cobra and has a 5-speed manual transmission. It runs 0-60 in 4.6 seconds (claims to do 0-80 in 4.8 sec) I'm curious to know how it feels to drive compared to a Kat. |

Fast. The supercharged ones are really fast if you can hook it up. Also you've got to be a string bean to sit in one, they're unbelievably narrow |

Yeah, I caught a blurb somewhere that claimed the PR ran like a 3.8 0-60--must've been referring to a supercharged version. They came out in '97 and it appears as though they were really going for the Prowler look. I don't like the front bumper and headlight arrangement, but the rest is really sharp. |

I first saw one when I was searching for my Kat. It is cute and reminds me more of the Ferrari that was posted on the board not too long ago. It is hand built as well. JRL- You are right about being a string too... I could not fit into it. Might make a better one seater Nice interior though... I still likes me Kitty better! Besides, if I was going to spend $60,000, I would just throw in another $15,000 & get a Viper! WildBill |

A buddy of mine tried to steer me to the Panoz rather than the Prowler. I wound up with the Prowler. Just seemed to be too much headache for the ultra-specialty car, at least for a first one. -brad ------------------ |

Prowler - 7/100,000 mile warranty, unbelievably good looks, every major option you could want in a Hot Rod, You can drive it anywhere with or without the Top up and Air conditioning on etc. and still get great Mileage...... and they can be purchased fairly reasonably at this point. Just too many super cool options and after market things to do to the car, and oh yeah - this board.... The Prowler rules..... Buy one, go to one event and you'll wonder why you didn't do it a long time ago.... John |

I had a silver Panoz Roadster for awhile. Most awesome sounding car I have ever owned. A LOT more fun than the prowler overall, but it's basically a kit car with zero comfort. I had to sell it because the footwell was so small that I could not press the clutch pedeal in without clipping the brake pedal half the time. The Prowler is a cruiser, the Panoz is more like a Cobra. |

I had a $50,000 Cobra replica and yes they are all kit cars and not very good on the creature comforts, mostly raw horsepower. Not as reliable as a Prowler and in no way are they the cruisers that the Prowler is. ------------------ |

Rick I have a 1999 Silver Panoz AIV Roadster. Many people consider it a kit car but most have not taken the time to inspect it or review how the car is made. The body panels are made out of aluminum and constructed with the same process used by Boeing to make the panels for their planes. The build quality is quite good and very solid. Most of the car is Ford ... engine, trans, wiring, air conditioning, and gauges. When I was looking for a car I drove a 1997 GTS Viper, 2 Prowlers, Z06, Honda 2000 and a Lotus once I drove the Panoz I knew which car I wanted. The Panoz is the closest thing to race car for the streets I have ever driven. How could you loose a race car with a full 36 month warrenty. The car can be serviced at any Ford dealership in the country. The other thing that I liked about the car is they made less than 160 so when you go to the car show no one else has one and some car experts have the said it will be the next AC Cobra. Who knows? I noticed that you are in Plano If you get a chance come by the local car show in Rowlett on Thursday nights. The show is located on Dalrock road 1 block South of HWY 66. There are usually about 60 to 100 cars. The show starts at 6:00 pm and goes to about 9:00 pm and I'm usually there. David |
