JD, with the better unit you can be saved from the instant on radar by the cops zapping someone a mile or so ahead of you. The cheaper models that don't have the range might miss the instant on copper. Here is one good reason not to use a jammer; say you have it on and go through a R trap, you are doing the speed limit or a little above and you have the jammer set at 25% reduction of speed. You are going with the flow of traffic, you show 55 and everyone else is 70. You might get pulled over and be in very serious trouble with the jammer. They are highly illegal everywhere and you will lose the jammer and you take the chance on being sent back to Folsom,. I will up there on Thursday and show you my V1. BTW, you say,"I'm not at full race when I drive my car. I just like to go at a nice clip." LIAR ------------------ This message has been edited by Gary C on 02-21-2001 at 09:37 AM |

John, Here are the states that the jammer is illegal in. "The Phantom is illegal in the following states: CA, VA, NE, OK, MN and DC". There ain't no TX in that list but I do see the CA, sorry about that. ------------------ |

Forgot to report on the results of the Bell 980 Radar Detector that I used on the Primm, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yuma, Mt. View Ca. cruise,,, Worked great for me. Picked out cops everywhere, hiding, on road medians, on and off ramps. All very cool. And not a lot of false readings either, which really made me happy. It has display, alarm, and/or voice to describe each activation. AND IT DOES pick up laser. I was very pleased, no tickets, over 2100 miles on the cruise. The only it does do though, which is probably a good thing, it made me drive more, shall we say, aware of my surroundings. You would be surprised where some cops were. All and all, I would recommend it. I think you can get it cheaper on their site by a few buck, and to be honest I forgot what I paid. But it was a welcome addition. Always in my car now. ------------------ |

Here is an excuse that males can use when they get pulled over for speeding. This isn't intended as weird or anything but sometimes you have to be creative. Tell the cop your wife is having difficulties getting pregnant and the fertility doctor ordered a semen analysis on you. Tell the officer you just put the goods in a collection bottle which is in your pocket and that the doctor said you only have 30 minutes to get to the hospital before they die. (ps: keep a prescription bottle in the glove compartment that you can put in your shirt pocket when the cop is walking up to your car). I wonder if the law would ask to see the bottle?

Night Prowler-Seems like he might direct you to the hospital bathroom with an appropriate mag instead for a really fresh specimen. ------------------ This message has been edited by butchcee on 03-26-2001 at 01:19 PM |

butchee, you have to go for the "shock" value of the excuse to throw the cop off kilter and hope the cop reacts "ah" "um" "I don't want to pursue this topic any further so be on your way-please" type of thing. ------------------ |
