Last night our daughter was at a party and decided to stay overnight. Ken and I jumped in the Prowler to drive over and take her overnight bag to her. As I drove very slowly up the long and winding rock driveway (with a grass hump all the way down the middle) to their house I heard a weird noise so made my way over to the edge and drove in the grass. I thought I had drug my front end protectors on the hump in the middle. It wasn't until I got out and Ken pointed out the crumpled and torn up tranny cooler cover that I knew what I had actually hit! Couldn't believe how much damage was done to the cooler cover! It saved the tranny cooler big time! Thanks Bob!! I'll be calling tomorrow to get another sent to me! If you don't have one of these - GET ONE you won't be sorry!!!! T This message has been edited by TFischer on 07-13-2004 at 12:31 PM |

When I encountered driveways like that I tried to ride to the side so one side of tires are on the mid-lane hump. The Realrod cooler cover saved my cooler once when I backed a bit too far at the curb. I'll always have one one... But......If you tore up your cooler cover driving forward, I might dare guess that the cooler cover hooked on the lane hump? |

BT: What you said is exactly right - it caught on the high grassy area in the middle, but it made enough of a noise that I moved immediately to the grassy area on the side with my drivers' wheels so I didn't catch the cooler. If it hadn't made the noise I might have torn the cooler up pretty bad. I was surprised at how raised the middle of their lane was - it didn't look that high until you got out of the car and looked at it. The color of the rock they had hid the height pretty well. I definitely won't make that mistake twice!! Didn't get a chance today at work to call Bob, but will be getting another immediately. The $100 is definitely worth it! I agree it grabed the hump in the driveway, did it stop any further damage? Tami I have one here in a box for you and like others that have posted a story with the damage and are happy they had it the replacement is 1/2 price. Thanks again for your support of Real Rod. ------------------ |

Hey Bob: That is fantastic - but I damaged it and you should get full price!! Yes, it stopped any further damage to the tranny cooler - not even a bent fin!!! Worked just the way it should have - took the damage and left the tranny cooler completely untouched!!! Thanks, T This message has been edited by TFischer on 07-13-2004 at 11:06 AM |

If you post a pic of the cover I do not need the old one back, but if the requests get out of hand I may need to change my stand on the issue. Me and Renae try to keep our customers happy and coming back this is an easy one to handle. ------------------ |

quote: That's pretty cool Bob! I took a pic a few minutes ago, but the cover is soooo shiny, it reflects EVERY detail in the asphalt, so the cover looks grainy in the pic. From 5 feet away you can't really tell that the cover is damaged, but the photo shows the warped area where it dented against the curb. and it is scratched on the right side too from the same curb bump. My guess is the damage might just be slight enough to not be able get another at half off, but that's your call. It's cool either way.... ORANGE: I get your point, but POA has a good BS detector in place....LOL. Here's mine with a little bit of damage: |
