![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ....Gold Kat is going to the painter Monday for a complete color change......how long should it take to disassemble the body parts.....how do the rear fenders/quarters come off....any hints from those that have done a color change.... ...engine compartment is going to be black so it won't have to be changed in a year or so when the car turns another color.... ...he is hoping the turn around time will only be a couple of weeks... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Larry, I think the only problem piece is the little piece that connects the rear fenders to the rear valance. They are about an inch wide and I seem to recall someone having a heck of a time finding them. They may not be reusable. I am not positive about this, but I recall some type of problem. Wayne W ought to know since he had his disassembled and converted to a hiboy. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: I was told the Dart body would be done in 2 weeks.............. 10 YEARS AGO It will depend on how good and hungry the guy is. They built somewhere around 16~20 a day. Those people could probably take one back apart in a day and reassemble in another day. Nyle took an estimated 220 hours to paint the BAD A** ORANGE CAT If 2~3 do the R&R and they stay on it they should be able to do it in 2 weeks if they don't get side tracked or covered up with insurance work. Good Luck.......cannot wait to see it |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey Mr. TUIB just make sure when they pull the car apart they: 1. put the bolts for the rear fenders and rear valence back in the SAME HOLES. 2. number the location of all the metal shims they come across so they also get put back in the same place. 3. The 2 rubber/plastic moldings that cover the seem from the rear valence to the fenders can be reused, they may need to peel the old 2 face tape off and apply new. 4. If they are removing the 2 channels the side panels are bolting two make sure they either mark or measure the bolt locations to the cowl and the front lower radiator support so all the panels will go back on with correct spacing and the doors and hood will line up correct. I will guess 3 hours with 2 guys to pull apart and 10 hours with 2 guys to put back together. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() to remove those rear seam covers try a heat gun,but dont get to hot.just warm and peel off.they have double face tape holding them on.you can also try fishing line or dental floss, which i would try first before the heat.w/discount they are 26.00 apiece and only con in purple.part# 0qq57th7. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I DO NOT WORK ON CARS FOR A LIVING, GIVEN THAT IT TOOK ME TWO LONG DAYS (20 HOURS) TO TAKE EVERY PART THAT HAD PAINT OFF THE CAR, EVERY RUBBER MOLDING, EVERY LATCH, ALL PARTS MARKED AND BAGGED. IT TOOK THREE DAYS(30 HOURS)TO PUT IT BACK AT SHOW QUALITY, AND BUFF OUT. I PUT THE FRONT OF THE CAR ON AND OFF AROUND 8 TIMES TO MAKE IT PERFECT. YOU WILL NEED A TAP & DYE SET ALSO. CALL ME IF YOU LIKE, I WILL TELL YOU MORE. ![]() ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Tangled.. Bob's suggestions are 100% correct. Very important to put all shims back where they were and all bolts and hardware exactly where it came from. The shop I used had the car completely apart in one day and back together in two days..Car was complete, drop off to pick up in two weeks. Really curious how your guy intends to cover the gold behind the engine on the firewall? It sounds like way more work than my shop had to do so the time comparisons may not be valid? Good Luck and keep us posted |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe those little strips that cover the crack where the rear quarters and the belly pan, that is what I named it are glued on. I just replaced the rear belly pan and one of those strips came off. I was careful not to damage it. they are glued on some how. I used 3m double faced sticky tape to put them back on. Since your changing colors, I suppose the little pieces can be painted, or your painter will have a better idea |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now that the car is back from Atlanta, it is already apart for some paint work and frame polishing. It took maybe 6 hours for everything to be apart and that includes most of the interior too. After a few times, it's not bad. Good luck ...... ------------------ |
