Hello, my name is Jonathan Smith and this is my first post on this forum. I, like most members on this forum are really into their cats. I share the passion of big cats, just with a different breed of cat, Jaguars. I have been visiting this site for a few days to read up on the Prowler and wanted to follow the forum rules about posting in the classified. I understand that the forum would be more excepting to a green pea new member if they got to know them a little before posting in the classified. So here we go...

I have been selling Jaguars for 10 years in Indianapolis. I am very passionate about all thing automotive and that is what lead me to this site. Once in a while, I get to see the most amazing vehicles come and go and the most recent one made my heart stop. We had a customer trade in a 2001 Chrysler Prowler, Midnight Blue with Agate interior. What made my jaw drop is the fact that it had only 1,216 miles on it! Searching different sites showed that this was the lowest mileage Prowler for sale in the country. I wanted to get the word out to the Prowler community that this vehicle is available. I have attached a link so you can see several pictures and read the carfax history report.

http://www.tomwoodjaguar.com/used/Chrysler/2001-Chrysler-Prowler-e81b5c410a0a0065005fe91ad51f6045.htm

Please let me know if you have any questions. I want to make sure that I am doing things correctly on this forum and open to any advise, both good and bad. Thanks again!

Hi Jonathan and welcome to the site.

Thank you for your introduction so that we may know better who you are and what you do. I believe your introduction is in the corrrect forum ((But.. I am not on the forum police squad, so what do I know)).

Welcome to the Prowler site and we look forward to hearing more from you. Now, I will go to the classified section to learn about your Prowler for sale.

Welcome to the Prowler world. Jags are beautiful cars and next to my Prowler, my favorite, that I owned, was a 1954 XK120 Jag roadster. I find the Prowler to be much more fun and I hope you decide to keep the Prowler yourself. There is no other car, regardless of price, that is like this. All the wonderful owners are a "bonus."

Pops, he dosen't own the Prowler he's describing....He's a car salesman and using this site to try to make a sale..

BTW Personally, I don't have a problem with "non Prowler owners" posting their Prowlers for sale here....But they should clearly identify themselves as such......And perhaps we need to assess a POA "advertising fee" to new members with less than 10 posts (or so) who want to sell a Prowler.

Free Classifieds are for active members...

This guy did identify himself and I think he sold the car on June 28th. He turned out to be a straight up guy who promoted the site to the new owner.

We have vendors who pay to advertise on the POA which helps support this site....We used to have more, but now there's only Products by Gary and Tom Mills at Jefferson Auto......

Both of these fellows are "straight up guys" as well, but they don't just advertise when it's free.....There's nothing wrong with asking those who's interest is only in selling a Prowler to put something in the "kitty"

Before I made any posts to this forum, I read all the forum rules reguarding the classified section and thought I followed them all. If the rules had stated that I needed to have 10 posts before listing something in the classifieds, I would have followed those rules. I am active on several different forums and understand that the new guy has to go through some hoops. I know that most do not have the greatest perception of salespeople on their site just trying to sell them something. That is why I introduced myself and how I came about to this site. I am a car guy at heart. I thought that others who are passionate about their Prowlers would like to know about other Prowlers for sale, thus my posts. I see your point about non-active members being charged a fee to list on the classifieds. Would there then be a refund once you reach 10 or so posts?

You followed the rules, You were willing to wait until you had 10 post. You were up front about who you were and what you were doing. I see no problem with that and a member might have purchased a Prowler they were looking for. We have members who joined 10 years ago with less than 10 post and than post when they want to sell their car. You are welcome here as far as I'm concerned, maybe we can talk you in to a prowler.

Gary said it very well. Jonathan was more than upfront and forthright in his post. How could one do it more by the book. You are always going to find someone that will complain. That is one of the reasons folks are posting less and less.

OR like the ones who Gary described,,,never post,,

UNTIL they want to know HOW TO FIX a problem they are having, or where to take it for repair.

They contribute nothing to the site,,,but sure can TAKE from it.

I don't get it. Isn't that what this site is all about. People with the same car helping each other. I've posted questions several times. As a newbie what could I possibly help with? What could i contribute? I would be happy to help but there are many people who are a lot more qualified than I am to answer questions.

Trust me. Someone will ask a question that you'll know the answer to and you will then be a contributor too.

I think what ALLEY CAT means is people who never contribute like get involved in conversations, share experiences, or maybe just post pictures of something cool they have done to their car. There are plenty of people here who are far more knowledgeable about these cars than I am but I have occasionally helped out from the information I have learned through this site. I for one think it's in poor taste to only come out when you need something when there are a lot of interesting people here you can interact with.

It is not only PROWLER info that is valuable. Some folks post when there is a big sale on a floor jack or oil and filter or a GPS or a Camera. Maybe a heads up about an eBay item of interest to a lot of folks. Lots of ways to contribute. Host an event, set up a parade entry, set up a local outing to a place of interest, etc.

I don't know how to post a photo and I would be afraid of giving bad advice but I guess I get the point.
