Isn't this the same place where they have the re-created western town and have "staged" gunfights on Main Street every 30 minutes or so?.....I think it is, and it's a lot of fun to watch....We later "bellied up to the bar" at the local saloon as I remember it....(hic)..

Can't wait to get back to Colorado....

That's Deadwood. They might have them at Royal Gorge now but they didn't when I was there in the past.

Wow the offers just keep coming in for Sno and Freeze , sure says a lot about them now doesn't it... Just got off the phone with Carl Spike and he is willing to give up one of his 3 Prowlers to Sno and Freeze. I told him that I had Saturday covered thanks to good guy Russell, but I'm sure that Sno would jump on the Sunday Royal Gorge Event and borrow one of there special toys.. After calling Sno he said, Heck Yea! Carl, Russell your the man... Thanks, Carl and Pam, and Russell for the use of there Precious Prowlers... Looks to be a few out of town Prowlers joining us again ... I also invited a few want to be Prowler owners to join in on the fun as some of the locals like me haven't seen the Royal Gorge in 5 years... Thanks, John(onecatnodog)Collins

WOW JC, really wish I could join you guys but we leave Tuesday for a week in Yellowstone. I'd love to show ya all how to make it to the Royal Gorge in record time (like a few of us did in '02). You guys have a great time don't let anyone chicken out and not DRIVE across the bridge, the clickety clack of the boards and view from the other side is worth the trip over.

Believe I was on that trip with Marc,,,,,we flew by a Colorado trooper with his radar gun on us at 106mph. Ten Prowlers and a Mustang,,,,a blur going by him, and he didn't know who to stop Damn,,,that was a fun trip!!!

it is a great place to see. they were not going to let me drive across with my trailer on. i asked to see the person in charge. he let us go across with the trailer. go down to the bottom and see the river to get a good view of the cable car ride looking up. if you have the time go down to durango then all the way up to rocky mt. nat. park with the top down. it does not get any better. went in sept of 06.

Couple of more pictures at Royal Gorge Bridge

Sandy & Onecatnodog

Here is a shot from a helicopter of the bridge just before we dove down into the canyon. What a thrill ride that was. And guess what, the helicopter pilot owns a Prowler! Our plan is for 2008 to see if we can get as many Prowlers as we can on the bridge and get some great aerial shots from his helicopter. What a great picture that will be.

That sure looks like RICK B in the blue shirt. Looks like a great time. That is one deep, steep hole in the ground.

Hard to believe that the bridge was built in six months time > June through November, 1929.

It cost $350K to build back then,,,,if built now, would be over $20+ million.

They have only lost seven cars from the wooden bridge planks breaking,,,and going down into the canyon,, to the river,, 1,000 feet below

I made up the part about the seven cars falling, lol

Alley Cat: I showed a guy at work pictures of the bridge and he said that every time he sees it he remembers seeing a guy jump out of a plane in a hang glider and was planing on going under the bridge and the wind lifted him up right into the cables and cut him to shreds... Ouch! Wonder if its true...

Maybe they'll let Marc S. fish from the bridge? That way,,,those 8 ounce trout he catches will feel like 12 pounders,,,,,,when he is reeling them up 1000 feet

Hey AC, I'm thinking of putting together a half day trip of flyfishing for beginners on private water next year if there is any interest. I'll hold a spot for you (my treat) if you guys make it. Think you can handle it?
