We visited the RFC Garage while prowling with Scotty and Terry last weekend. This is a wonderful resource to support young adults in the community. It affords them the chance to learn while working on vehicles teaching valuable skills in a positive environment. If you enjoy cars and have never experienced a top fuel race, this opportunity is priceless. The sensations experienced while being anywhere near a top fuel car at launch can't be described. Do something that few others ever have a chance to do and 100% of your payment supports a wonderful cause. This message has been edited by RPL on 10-26-2006 at 07:53 PM |

As Bob put it standing next to a Top Fuel car at launch is INCREDIBLE! 1. Car starts and you just about jump out of your skin. 2. As the car does the burn out your eyes start to water and you feel the exhaust thump against you. 3. Car backs up to get ready to stage it is now throwing raw fuel in the air your eyes are watering like a faucet and you try to breath but your nose and throat start to burn. 4. The car is staged and the RPMS are brought up, the pounding on your chest and face is like some one holding you down and having several people do a drum roll on your body, your eyes are watering to the point you can't see and you are gasping for fresh air. 5. The car launch's you feel like you are pushed away from the car you wipe your eyes just in time to see the parachute come out, as you turn to walk away you find you walked out of a shoe on the sticky starting line. 6. Do this several times in a day and I will guarantee you will not sleep that night as you have ingested some of the nastiest stuff on earth and the adrenalin in your body is in overdrive.
I was lucky enough to work starting line cameras for 5 years at the IHRA events and even after that many trips to the starting line I never miss a chance to do it again. RPL is this pretty close? ------------------ |

Right on! These cars drop 9 to 11 gallons of 90% nitromethane 10% alcohol between the burn out and pass. The comment about the shoe is so true! Not sure if you could buy this anywhere else. |

Being on the starting line when a Funny Car or Top Fuel Dragster lunches is absolutely awesome; being anywhere in the starting line is awesome. The pit crew member for a day will be near the starting line in the area with the crew, team owners and sponsors; this is an area that is next best to being on the line and not many fans get to experience this. |

I worked with the NHRA venue for quite a while...and there is nothing more thrilling than the sound and feel of a Top Fueler or a Funny Car. Much more exciting than NASCAR in my book! |
