Does anyone know why the 7 year warranty on the 2002's are different from one color model to the next? Do the Candy Red's NOT offer it?? Thanks. Dave |

I think it depends on what time of the year you bought it.(NOT COLOR) ------------------ |

Contact Bob Haisler at Miller Motors. He can tell you exactly what your Kat is eligible for by looking up the VIN. He can also tell you the history of your vehicle, ie... recalls and work performed on it. He has offered this history to any of us who ask for it... NO CHARGE... I have purchased 3 Warranties from him. 2 for Prowlers and 1 for a Pontiac. His price is $50.00 over dealer cost. This is a Chrysler warranty, not a 3rd party. Bob's # is 800-824-1784. |

I was just offered a 6 year warrranty on my 2002 Candy. $2438-- Zero deductible. $395 down $118 a month for 18 Months. I just paid over $500 for my air cond pulley at the dealer. Think I'm going to get it. Call Linda--800-376-5688 ext 1629 for more info ------------------ |

Meancat is correct. We bought our 2001 kat on the first day the 7/70 power train warranty was offered on all DC products, Nov 1. Chrysler must have discontinued it by the time the candy kat came out and it did not exist on the earlier models. Interestingly, we purchased a new 2001 from a dealer in Oct 2005 and received the full new car warranty 3/36. To say we are pleased is an understatement. |

I bought my silver 2002 in Jan. of 2002. I was told that Chrysler had a special powertrain warrenty that was being offered for only a period of time. When mine goes into the shop the computer shows this powertain warrenty which I think is to 100,000. I'll check next visit. Color was never a factor. |

Where can I find out what is and is not covered under powertrain warranty? |

Well, Bob Haisler at Miller Motors confirmed my fears and this might contradict what was posted earlier by GRROWL (or maybe this just applies to THIS Prowler). The IN-SERVICE date was 5-2-2002 and the vehicle only had the 3/36 not the 7/70 or 7/100. I suspect that other Candy's may be in the same situation. I just don't understand why one Candy would have the extended powertrain warranty and others would not. |

I know my in service date is 3-30-02, and I think I only have the 3/36, but I'm not positive. |

quote:Doing some Googling for "Chrysler Powertrain Pledge", this came up first. Looks like the dealer did the inservice date to get the 7/100,00 in effect the day before it expired (last sentence):

Unfortunately, the VIN check on this particular Prowler, reflects that NO current powertrain warranty (or Pledge) is in effect. I suspect the local Chrysler dealership would confirm the same. I doubt that the reprint of the release from June 5th, 2002 would be of much help. Thanks for the additional research GRROWL. This message has been edited by pr4mncplus on 06-21-2006 at 05:15 PM |

OK, that's enough free research on a subject that doesn't impact me (I have the 7/100,000 MaxCare with Zero Deductible and free rental car). To help your search: Google: " Chrysler Powertrain Pledge" POA: " powertrain " posted by " GRROWL " (there's about a dozen". I'll leave with a story, but first a disclaimer - I have no idea what is covered by any of these programs, but I do know that the 3/36 original warranty is covered by Chrysler directly, the MaxCare extended warranty is handled by a totally different division (if even within Chrysler) than the original. I suspect that the "Powertrain Pledge" (whatever that is) is handled by neither, and now that it's out of current "production", you'll have to dig. I suspect that if you ask a dealer "what is my warranty" that the "Powertrain Pledge" will not come up since it's not a warranty (it's a "Pledge"). Now, if you think that I'm being ridiculous, let me leave you with a repeat of the following TRUE BUT UNBELIEVABLE story: quote: |

I still think it's quite odd that some 2002 Prowlers came with the 7/70 while others did not. |

quote: That intrigued me, so I did a little more research. There's a difference on whether the original purchase was on or before July 8, 2002, or after. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER website (I know, they've proven to be unreliable in the past), it states that the extended warranty is based upon the original warranty that came with the car as follows: 3/36 for ALL 2006 Model Year If the "original owner actually took delivery of the new vehicle" in calendar 2002, it's covered by either the 7/70 or 7/100 (according to CHRYSLER). I suggest that anyone that bought within the above windows that might need this coverage in the future should print off the pages from the Chrysler website before they disappear.
quote: Again, that's from Chrysler - for all I know they will adhere to this warranty just as well as they did on our wheels. -GRROWL |

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I think your interpretation is incorrect. The reference you used are for extended warranties beyond the normal in-service warranty from DC. Each of the refences noted are for buy-up plans that will compliment the normal warranty that came with your car. I don't think it in any way inferred that the 7/70 or 7/100 automatically came with that model year. A good example is the current lineup of Chrysler/Dodge products which NO LONGER include the standard 7/70 powertrain warranty. In fact, I think the last year was with the 2004 model lineup. In any case, my VIN search does not indicate any warranty and my only recourse is to spring for another $2500 to get an extended warranty. |

From reading this from their website http://www-5.servicecontracts.chrysler.com/gn/gn_PlansBenefits.html To determine which DaimlerChrysler Service Contracts Plan is right for you, please select the warranty coverage below that applies to your new vehicle: 3/36 - NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY 7/70 - POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY 7/100 - POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY I would conclude that ALL 2002 Prowlers Have at minimum 7/70 powertrain limited warranty. |

Not true. The one I considered buying did not have anything past the 3/36. I'm not considering it any longer. |
