Who has the Fastest "Street Legal" Prowler that drives to and from the track (not a trailer queen)? I really admire a car that can perform well on the track, but can actually be driven home or used daily. My stock (Borla + MTD air cone) 1997 cat has run a 14.715 in the 1/4 mile. ------------------ |

MikeK drives the High Voltage Blue II on the streets at home and puts slicks on it for runs at the track. It is street legal and has a current license plate, so I guess that's the answer. There are seven or eight car that run in the 12 I think - all on street tires - driven to the track - most have Paxton's or N20. My car should run low 13's (engine builder thinks maybe even high 12's) on street tires - no Super Charger, nitrous or turbos. I hope to find out in February in Louisiana. Spoons, I believe mine fits your question. It has had a lowest time of 12.718 and at the Texas Event ran the lowest ET, barring Mike's car, with a 13.1 something, it took the Open Class trophy. The car is driven to and from the office each day and has 58,000 on it now.. Oh, and it is always driven to the track and has never been on a trailer. ------------------ |

Fred, Wow I am impressed! 13.1 sec is damn respectable. I know at my local track (Moroso)if you run under 13 with a convertible than you need a roll cage. How 'bout in TX or LA tracks? |

Not a problem but that is because we have rented the track out for "private" racing each time. When I did my 12.718, the Houston Viper Club rented out the track to race the Vetts and I went along to play.. I've gone with them a couple of times. My low time was against a Hennessey Viper Venom which ran 11.4 but I thought I did real well.. ------------------ |

Hey Brian, there's quite few fast modified Prowlers out there with owners who drive 'em to the track AND over the road, and a few who have limped home. I race mine 2-3 times a month in the summer and in 4 years of running it with nitrous have only limped twice (made it without a tow). The track here is over 6000 feet altitude and my car runs consistantly between 13.5 and 14.00 on street tires. I'ts unbelievable how much more power the car has at lower altitudes and hopefully I will get to a track at lower altitude someday. 14.7 for a stock '99 is great, keep tearing it up! |

I ran a 12.85 and drove to the track. I little less ignition retard and a lighter driver would have bumped a tenth ot two off that time--wudda, coulda, shudda. Next time. |

Marc & Al it looks like we will have some racing at the Dells Event in July, can you guys make it? It would be great to have fast cars with different ways of doing it all show up at 1 place. I am sure Marty is in and Laddie will show up if we can get you two to make it we would have a heck of a shoot out! Maybe Bob & CJ can get Art Piel to bring the V8 car over? ------------------ |

Actually ... would be good to see Mike there as well, think it may be time for him to defend the "title" of Fastest Prowler with all the recent advancements made by others ... and Union Grove is a GREAT track too! |

Bob--I can't commit to anything right now, but you never know. I might be into my next profession which could be selling real estate by then and my free time wont be my own. |

There are some pretty impressive times out there. I always thought of a Prowler more of a retro cruiser with the main emphasis not neccesarily on the speed......now a Viper gets to be a totally different story! |
