Although this applies to minivans, as we all know, the prowler is somewhat a "parts-bin car" with some components having their origin in the minivans. Might this have some bearing on the clockspring problem that many have experienced? -GRROWL """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" |

You may be on to a big scoop, GRROWL. From my understanding, the steering wheel is from a Jeep Cherokee. But I have no idea if the components inside are eligible in this recall..... If so, would the people who paid out of pocket for the new clockspring eligible for a refund? |

The steering column is identical to the one on my 95 Ram. May be the same as Jeep also? |

Mine has already been replaced. Driver side AIR bag light was on from when the Kat was new. ------------------ |

On the news RE: the recall, they warranty the clock spring up to 70K miles. They said the airbag warning light wouldn't go on upon startup if there was a problem, but it would seem more likely the airbag light would stay on. Even 4 premature airbag deploys is too much. I can't beleive that $#@! Joan Claybrook conviced our gov. to make airbags mandatory....nothing like having explosives in your steering wheel. And if you have ANY baby seat in the passenger side, be sure to deactivate the pass side airbag! That's done with a key in the side of the dash. |
