Well we have made it through the first two days of the 2004 "Gateway to the West" Event, here's a little insight for those how couldn't make it...

Everyone was up and ready to move Wednesday at 8am... surprisingly. We packed up and headed down some awesome backroads to our first destination. It was a little town right off the Mississippi River...

After we left that little town we had a few nice stops with some great views...

We made our way to Hannibal Missouri, which is the boyhood home of Mark Twain. We pulled in to Bubba's Riverfront Restaurant and the local law came to check out the cars...

We had all hoped for a nice peaceful meal at Bubba's, but Tytanium-K started to get a little out of hand (its all those biker bars he's used to) . The law had to step in and take care of business...

A couple hours later we all got ready to pull out and head over to the Illinois side to cruise back down the other side of the Mississippi. Another shot from Bubba's before we left...

CONTINUED

This morning (Thursday) everyone was up and ready to go again. We made our way to the parking lot at the St. Louis Gateway Arch...

The group went up, and up, and up... wow, that's pretty far up...

After the Arch we headed to Grant's Farm for lunch and a tour. As we all know Prowler owners love their convertibles, the tour vans were... well... convertibles too...

While at Grant's Farm we got to see just about every animal you could think of. The Prowler owners were having a good time, the animals were having a good time... well, I must admit the animals were having a better time...

Wow, guess we didn't need to see that . Anyway, I hope I speak for everyone when I say we are having a great time, and we still have two days left of the event! Check back to see how the story ends...

Mannnn, what an excellent rally St Louis was, m'friends!!! WOW!!!

Vera and I have been on many, many vacations to many, many places and attended countless biker rallies...from NY State to So. Dakota. (Some of the biggest rallies in the world) V & I both agree that 'this' was the absolute best one we've attended in our 11 years together. Thanks!

So, that is saying something. Every day [and night] was jam-packed full of activities, scenic drives, tours of very, very interesting & historic places~not to mention all the unusual places we dined at--each different--day by day and night-after-night.

Our normal group-size was 18/19 avg, and tho' mostly the same players, some attended sporadically, so we met new people each day, some just for that day, others hanging
on and becoming part of the pack, while certain others we never saw again. But all in all, a very well-organized and exciting event for us each n every day...arising at 6-ish for bfast on our own....usually at a near-by Denny's; meeting the group for take-off @ 8am; supper generally around 8pm [wherever it happened] and not falling into bed til almost 11pm nightly.

Damn! We had to return to get some rest--altho' V is working [military] today and just left for work at 6:30AM. Put 1800 miles on V's Prowla, and evil elf drove every one of those miles...over 600miles each way...plus slightly under 600 in-area miles totalled the 1800. Wow! Whatta
trip; whatta function. Comraderie was second to none and absolutely everyone got along fabulously. It was better than either of us expected!

A most unusual experience was our waiter named Jules at an
upscale restaurant (name of which I can't remember) which brings me to why he was so unusual. There were 12 of us for dinner that evening and Jules remembered each of our orders without writing anything down! Amazing! Best waiter any of us ever had in our lives--we all agreed; and each gave him a huge tip for his efforts/memory! What a guy, Jules! *~*

We personally wanna thank each and every attendee + the organizers who made this super event HAPPEN! We remember: Rick B & Linda; Joe n Marla; Mel n Jane; Rich n Karen; Carl n Pam; Rickster; Kurt n his mum; Sharron & her brother Steve; Ed n Bobbie; Barry n Bianca; and Frank & his wife!
This is all from memory so if i've left anyone out please excuse an old mind! Our thanks to each of you beautiful people!

~Our hearts and memories have been deeply affected! Warmest regards, Ken n Vera (Tytanium-'K' [right Carl?] n evil elf

Why did I expect this from the Man of Metal [solder]?
He's nothing but trouble, I'm telling ya, nothing but trouble! If it wasn't for Vera staying with his sorry as$, I'd ask for his expulsion from the club and events.

In military service they say, "What goes TDY stays TDY!" TDY=Temporary Duty to a base 'other than' home base.

Tytanium-K seems to have covered it well. I only hooked up on three days, Tues. Fri. eve and Sat. everyone was super in the group. One of the things that amazed me the most is that all these cars were DRIVEN to St. Louis not trailered. I have to applaud people like Steve and Sharon who drove all the way from New Jersy, simply amazing. I feel Honored to have met all of you. Also many THANKS to the Ricks that put this event on, you guys did a super job. and thanks to Linda for her help I never got to meet her but she put a lot of effort into this event.
Thanks again Barry

Arrived back in Jersy safe and sound....just wanted to add another BIG thank you to all of you out there in St Louis (organizers, friends, family and participants)for this fantastic event. I had a great time and enjoyed every minute out there. All the pictures won't do the event justice, each cruise was one scenic adventure after another and so well organized right down to the car colored flowers. It was a pleasure to meet so many nice people...let's do it again!!!!!! sharon

Glad to hear all of you had a fabulous time. I fully expected that, to be honest. Sounds pretty much like your typical Prowler event, TOO MUCH FUN with really great people. I sure wish we could have made it.

Rick's not so good at posting, so I just have to. It was such a pleasure meeting all the new in-town and out-of-town Prowler fans. It was so much fun planning the events with the Ricks, Kurt, Brian, Mel&Jane and Rich&Karen. But it was more fun living it. Vera and Ken, you are so fun. I see you signed up for the Dells and I hope Colorado Carl does too because you two make a great comedy team. Lots of laughs. I wish I could have participated in all the events and dinners, but I was happy with everything I did. Barry, I met you the first night when we went to Forest Park. I remember you. A special thanks goes to Rich and Karen for their hospitality at their resort and for filling us in on the areas during the cruise. Also, Kurt and Rickster for taking the great pictures. But, we'd like to see a few more. Thanks guys. What a fantastic time with great people. Also, there was Joe & Marla, Carl & Pamela, Frank & Lisa and the brother and sister team of Steve & Sharon who came all the way from New Jersey in their Prowlers. You were all wonderful to hang with.

CJ & Bob, Ed & Sandy, Gene & Iris, Laddie & Karen, and the rest, we missed you.

And last but not least, thanks to Rick for "driving my butt around" (as I call it) on all the Prowler events.

Take care,
Linda Martens
