JD got a ride in Jerry's Prowler (from DC) and he said it was faster than his Paxton car. I went nose to nose with him at a red light on Woodward and he pulled me by almost a full car (I have gears) Jerry would not let us see much under the hood. I certainly would like to know what was done without adding a supercharger or NOS. ------------------ |

If he was telling me the square, he said that it was making approx 265 HP and around 290 to 295 lb ft of torgue. ------------------ |

I tried getting the answer from BOB but he is tougher than a locked safe. I admire his ability to keep it quite.. I could not even get a hint....
What I saw looked kinda like the original 1997 Prowler with the dual intake MAF(Mass Air Flow) throttle bodies. The dual MAF throttle body appeared to be altered some how. Whoever has a 1997 prowler engine... please post a picture of your MAF throttle bodies. My 1999 prowler has one intake MAF/throttle body but the one at Woodward had two.
I tried taking a picture of it but Jerry was watching me like a hawk. He knew I would be itching to take a picture and before I knew it. He slammed the hood shut. DARN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later... ------------------ |

Hi Folks Did anyone ask Jerry what the little rocker switch in the tach mount was for. When I asked he looked at his wife and said "he was the only one to spot it" and gave no answer other then "not Nitro's" Set-up under hood looked simple, did anyone look in the trunk when he was putting top up or down. ------------------ |

Brian - nothing in the trunk that I saw. Jerry and Bob are wise to our ways, so expect no clues. LOL! I wonder if that old Chinese torture - plucking every hair out of their body with a tweezer - would work in obtaining info? Probably not! Nice meeting you at Woodward, and thanks for dragging my butt around on wed evening. Enjoyed it! ------------------ |

Again if Jerry was being forthright he stated that nothing was changed internally in the engine. JD you rode in the Kat did Jerry mess with the toggle switch mentioned above. ------------------ |

So now that production is over, anyone know the secret? I take it that this is the same car which is currently white and called IScream. We need to figure out a way to find out what was done to this engine to get 300+ hp. DC, it's about time you rewarded your prowler purchasers... |

quote: A stroker engine will do it. My 4 litre stroker will pull the Paxton cars off the line and intially from a running start but once the NOVI 1000 gets the boost going they will catch me on the top end. Hopefully with some increased compression coming soon along with some other tweaks from Westech Automotive, I will be able to hold them off longer! ------------------ |

I don't think its a secret anymore so this I what I know. The I Scream cat has a stroker motor, a beefed up Torgue converter, gears and a three throttle body air plenum with the outside two, computer controlled to open at full throttle. I would love to get my hands on the plenum and the computer needed to control it. |

They dont have to release the parts, just let us know what they did to acheive the hp they are getting out of this engine. I am sure someone would be able to replicate it. Barry |

Stroker engines are being done by Westech Automotive for sure - I have one, a 4.0 liter. Dean at Prowler Pro is working on a stroker I am told. Tuning should go hand in hand with the engine rebuilds by the respective shops. Both Westech and PP have done work on torque convertors but I do not know where they stand on these at the present time. Laddie has had work done on his TC also. |

Since DC no longer produces the car, they have no reason to offer any engines for it anymore. |

CJ we do not need the engines, just a shopping list of what to do to replicate their engine. Hot rodders are very good at duplicating a engine if they know what has to be done. Barry |
