I have another newbie question.
Did the prowlers come with the standard 3/36 bumper to bumper and the 7/70 drivetrain.

Call 800-521-9922 with the VIN# and have the in-service date ready, to verify. That office goes to lunch around noon ETime and nobody answers the phone for over an hour.

These people will tell you what is left on the original warranty, if any OR if any extended warranty is current or available.

The question asked was about the powertrain warrantee, not the extended warrantee.

The powertrain warranties, with both 7/100 and 7/70 having been included at various times, are not "warranties" and you need to speak the language.

BTW, Chrysler Customer Service is ALWAYS OUT TO LUNCH.

Up through October '01:
3 yr / 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper

Nov '01 to July 9, 2002
3 yr / 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper
PLUS
7 yr /100,000 mile "Powertrain Pledge"

purchased 7/9/02 or later:
3 yr / 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper
PLUS
7 yr / 70,000 mile powertrain warranty

I'm not going to get into the definition of "purchased". It probably means the "in-service date", so be careful.

My point is, if you ask about "warranties", it's likely that you're not going to be offered information on the "Powertrain Pledge".

My answer was concerning the 7yr powertrain "agreement".... whatever it is... If it's not a warrantee, then I don't know what it is.... I'll just call it an agreement to be generic.

You can call it whatever you want, but if it's not the right language, the manufacturer may not acknowledge it. O.K., here's a real, honest-to-goodness story from one of the MAJOR domestic car manufacturers.

I bought a car with the usual 3 year/36 month warranty. After 36,000 miles, but before 50,000 miles, I called customer service and asked if there was a recall or extended warranty on the power-steering rack-and-pinion, which was freezing up and a commonly reported problem on that line of cars. I was told that there wasn't.

A year or so later, I received a postcard that they were now covering the steering problem for up to 5 years/50,000 miles. I called and asked if I was covered (no, I wasn't, since it was now after 50,000 miles and my phone call prior to 50,000 miles didn't qualify). I asked why I was told that there was no extended warranty on the steering when I called during the coverage period. I was told,

"WE DON'T HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE STEERING, IT'S AN ADVISORY".

I was then told if I had asked about an "Advisory" on the steering, they would have replaced it at no charge (rather than the $700 it cost me).

Really, truly, I'm not making this up. Again, if you ask about an "extended warranty", they're likely to not tell you about a "powertrain pledge".
