My kat is at the dealer getting blown door speakers replaced, chipped headlite enclosures replaced, hood strut, all under warranty, also getting mud flaps and trailer hitch installed..My serv mgr mentioned that he thought to replace a transmission was about 10k, makes the extended warranty look a little more attractive to me... |

Depending on the year of your Prowler, and it looks like you have an 02 from the picture, you should already have a 7 year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty included, which would take care of the transmission. I believe it has a very small deductible like a hundred bucks if I'm not mistaken. |

quote: If you bought it new from a dealer, you should have 7/70 on the powertrain. If you do a Google search for Chrysler Extended Warrantees, the following is typical of what you will find from a Chrysler Dealer: "Special Upgrade Plans to the 7 yr / 70,000 mile powertrain warranty (Standard warranty on all Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles purchased 7/9/02 or later)" Sounds to me like if you bought a NEW* Chrysler after 7/9/02, you have the 7/70. -GRROWL * NEW means that the dealer never started the warranty before you bought it. |

After having my kat in for some work and realizing how expensive parts were, I eventually caved and got an extended warranty. Mine was an 01 with a 3/36, so the extended warranty will get me another four years. See more in the following: I wound up going through Causeway, whom alleycat mentioned in the post. They were more then helpful in making sure I got just enough to match my habits given the car and the mileage, and the price was much less then what my local dealer was asking ed |

It seems the 7/70 warranty should go with the car, don't you think?..I am assuming mine had it when purchased by the original owner.. |

When buying a car with an extended warranty in the name of the previous owner,,,,,that previous owner needs to 'sign off' and the new buyer has 90 days (if I remember right?) to transfer the warranty to their name. When you are talking about the 'free' 7/70,000 LIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (added into the deals to get inventory stock moving) I'm not positive how that works to the next buyer, if at all? CALLthe 800 number above to actually find out WHAT you have. JMO |

OK, just got off the phone with DC. I just bought my car a week or so ago (a new 2002). They tell me that I have a 3-36 bumper to bumper and a 7-100 drivetrain. |

quote: I know when I was going through some of the paperwork I noticed that service contracts (e.g. the "extended warranty" for those cars that came with only 3/36) wasn't transferred with the car. I remember hearing from someone in service at the DC dealer in SB that there may be a fee charged by DC for transferring a service contract from one individual to another. Anyway, yeah, the dates on the warranties, particularly for 02s, are tricky. Also tricky is figuring out what isn't covered under the maxcare plan. FWIW it excludes "soft trim" on the vehicle which, I believe, excludes service for the top. I had a top adjustment done a few weeks before my original warranty expired so at least I'm covered for another year by the repair warranty even if the maxcare plan won't cover it ed |

I just bought a 2000 Prowler with 8000 miles on it, and was lucky enough to be able to extend the warranty to a 7/50000 mile bumper to bumper no deductible deal through the Chrysler for $1635.00. The key to being able to extend the original warranty is that the car has not gone over 4 years since the in service date. Luckily, I made it by 3 months. I now have 3 years 2 months, and 42000 miles of no deductible warranty on my Prowler good at any Chrysler dealership. For info go to www.extended-warranty-pro.com or contact Brett Fencl at 1-877-539-8363. Mav This message has been edited by maverick1 on 03-27-2004 at 04:45 PM |

I bought the 5 year/100,000 mile extended warranty the same day I took delivery of my Prowler. Unfortunately, due to many many problems with the car, the extended warranty has already paid for itself with all the rental cars it has paid for. My Prowler only has 27k miles on it. I've been tempted to lemon law it, but there's nothing quite like the Prowler. |

My 4 year/100,000 mile MaxCare warranty runs out in October. Due to car sitting for 5 1/2 months last year it will only have about 90,000 miles on it then. Even with the engine not covered due to nitrous installation, I have received more $$$$ worth of service than I paid for the policy. ------------------ |

Mike - Norm's warranty is better than the MaxCare program. He told me you were paying for all the R & D costs and I was just the test mule to make you faster. I can settle for "Second Fastest Prowler" - just send Norm more cash fast, I dod not like driving a nine year old Mazda when the weather is nice. ------------------ |
