Thursday May 1, 2003 to ride Little League World Series Champion Team and two coaches as Grand Marshalls for the Pegusus Parade - this is the Kentucky Derby Festival Parade - 300,000 to 400,000 people lining the parade route. I will need committments for all the cars before I can get Ky Derby Festival to assign this to us. Of course other local car clubs are interested, too. Marty if you come up 1 car short or have someone fall out as the date comes closer I would be willing to make the drive. But this comes with a price! A trip to get a bottle of Makers Mark! |

It's a Thursday 5 PM parade down 2 miles of Broadway in the center of town. We could all cruise out to dinner afterwards and you all still get home at a semi reasonable hour! ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty, we would be driving one of the players or coaches in our cars, correct? Therefore it would be a driver only and not spouses or significant others? |

The person in charge of the parade eventat Ky Drby Festival is out today. I have talked with someone else who may or may not know all the procedures. I called about making arrangements for us to carry the players/coaches. I know in past some people have done homecomings/parades and the such and protected the deck lids. This could be an issue. At this point I am tryting to find out how they determine which convertibles drive the celebrites and grand Marshalls. I am holding out for Britney Spears or Pamela Anderson myself. Various car clubs participate each year. I will find out if we can escort the LLWS team first, celeb second, or drive in parade as POA third. |

Larry, I'm not crazy about someone sitting on the lid either. I was thinking of a padded seat placed in front of the deck lid, behind and between the seats. Should be able to make one fairly cheap. Might even be able to build it higher than the lid and have some over hang to provide wider seat room. We have 9 plus months to come up with ideas / designs and manufacture. |

Okay, guys, consider this............. If you push the passenger seat all the way forward and put the seat back upright, there is room behind the seat for a person to actually stand on the floor behind the seat. They can hang on to the top of the seat and lean against the car without being on the deck lid. I actually went out and tried this once, so I know it can be done. I am 5'0 tall, so depending on the size of the child, that might work. |

CJ's idea sounds interesting. I wish Rachel (5'2") had thought of that when she was trying to film while we cruised Woodward! Sounds like a fun event whether we do the LLWS team, celebs, or just POA. Although I would be very proud to cart a LLWS team member! Mike |
