I have ordered a Prowler trailer and expect it to arrive in about 3 weeks. I would appreciate any tips trailer owners have about the 'care and feeding' of the trailer, including the following...

1. Does the trailer come with 1 1/4 inch hitch receiver, ball (size?) and pin/lock?
2. Has anyone found a better receiver or locking (anti-rattle?) hitch pin? Supplier name?
3. With the trailer sitting level, what is the height of the top of the trailer coupler to the ground (to help determine hitch receiver/ball selection)?
4. Has anyone found a good 2-bike rack to use with the trailer? (i.e. Prowler - hitch - bike rack with built in ball - trailer)
5. IMPORTANT!!! Can you get a set of golf clubs in the trailer??!!

Thanks for any tips!

p.s. When I got my used red '99 in May 2002, Prowler luggage racks were history (although I would still like to find one...). Thanks to a very helpful Prowler owner (of course, 'Helpful Prowler Owner' is redundant thanks to POA!), I found out that the still-available PT Crusier luggage rack works (and looks!) great on the Prowler. Thanks, BG!

With the Mopar hitch it comes with the receiver.
The trailer comes with no receiver and you can put clubs in it ,it is big in their you can hide from your wife in there Ball size is 1 7/8" not included.

Thanks, PJ!

I got my Prowler 4th hand from new...it had the hitch installed (by some owner along the line...) but no 'ball mount' (i.e. the-square-metal-tube-thing-you-stick-in-the-receiver-and-connect-a-trailer-ball-to)...I have not been able to find an 1 1/4 inch ball mount locally (everyone has 2 inch, of course...)...

Good to hear the clubs (or the golfer!) can fit in the trailer...

Do u have any trailer places around or camping places they should have them. the hitch has about a 2" drop to it but u put it in up side down so it is like a riser instead of a drop but a straight one would work just fine and look better.I have seen some people put them in backwards were the hitch is droped and the trailer is stright, but if u put a lot of weight in the trailer it gets close to the ground. fyi

fixumm...

I have checked all of the 'usual suspects' (UHaul, trailer and boat shops, auto parts stores, etc....so far, no 1 1/4 inch mounts...I know they must be out there (I have seen some built-in 1 1/4 inch receivers in the newer small SUV's so someone must have them (definitely available on the web, of course)...

Before I buy/order one, though, I needed info on size, drop, etc....sounds like a 'straight tube' could work...

Is your trailer accessible? Could you measure the top of coupler to ground height for me and let me know what that is?
I could then figure out what I need to buy...

Thanks!

p.s. I noticed most of the POA owners have most excellent looking 'signature' banners with their messages...do you know how to create/post them? Is there an owner/artist (I am NOT) who can create them from input (photos, etc.)?

1. Any good trailer hitch shop should have the ball mount or be able to get you one in a couple of days. 1.25" ball mounts are common and sell for about $20.00. I also sell the 1.875" chrome balls and a black plasic cover for the balls to keep things just a little nicer when the trailer isn't on the ball. If you can't find parts locally, let me know and I'll ship them to you by UPS.

2. Yes you can get your clubs, your self and your girlfriend into the trailer if needed.

3. I sell a matching set of chrome barbell style locks for the Prowler Trailers for $32.95 per set, The locks use the barrel style keys (4 supplied) for both locks. One lock secures the trailer coupler to the ball and the other secures the ball mount to the receiver hitch.

4. If storage space is a concern for you. Be sure to check out the Upright Trailer Storage Stand that I manufacture. The stand allows you to get both your car and your trailer into only a single parking space. Your trailer can be stored upright in only a 30" x 68" space on your floor. The stand also help to prevent accidental damage to your trailer while in storage. The trailer stand sells for $199.95 and is in stock, ready to ship.

5. I'm pretty sure that I also have a bike rack that will work well and look good when mounted on the trailer tongue but I will need to research that a little more if you are interested.

If you have any questions or would like to place an order call me toll free at 800-436-2269 and I'll be happy to help you. Items can be packaged together to save shipping cost if you decide to order anything.

Eric,
I'll try to get a picture of the lockset posted today. I'm not a computer wiz!
Click on the link below for more information about the Upright Trailer Storage stands.
We'll be in your area on July 2nd (touring Mt St. Helens and then to Seattle) and July 3rd (Seattle - Union - Port Townsend - Port Angeles - Victoria). Maybe we can hook up with some of the Washington people for our visit to Mt. St. Helens on July 2nd. Check out the post in the events section about Larry and Julie's CanAm Adventure if you get a chance.

I just measured my height to the TOP of the ball. It is 15 1/4" on my `99.

Fixxum is right about the 2" drop / rise receiver. Check Walmart auto dept or other department stores with auto dept. I find them at all the stores in Indiana.

Mount the ball so the 2" rise is from the hitch
