I saw an add for a 2000 black tie, I thought they were made in 01 only? The vin is 1P3EW65GYV606387. Is this a true black tie? |

The Black Tie was originally produced as the 2000 the model year special edition. from what I've been told, Black Tie production was started late in the model year so DC continued it into 2001. Their all actually supposed to be 2000's. I guess this explains the overlap. I belive DC did the same with the Woodward (supposed to all be '99's but theres a few 2000's floating around out there). ------------------ |

Oh, BTW, the vin you posted is missing a diget. the tenth diget desegnates the model year and if its correct then this vin is for a '97. Be carefull. ------------------ This message has been edited by Spyder on 08-23-2001 at 10:30 AM |

Correction muchacho: Woodwards were intended and all are 2000's. I have pictures, dated, of Dr. Ru painting these works of art. Picture of my Woodward in the center above the mantle. "Old Frothingslosh" beer can collection to the far right. ------------------ This message has been edited by NightProwler on 08-25-2001 at 12:44 AM |

well, if you've got a 2k woodward, consider yourself lucky. I've seen at least fifty woodwords which are confirmed '99's and even Chryslers web pages state that the woodward was only available in the '99 model year. I know that there was some overlap with some 2ks being produced in woodward paint, I just figured they were in the minority. here's the model year colors according to Chrysler '97 '98 '99 2k 2k1 2k2 anyway, that's all according to Chrysler and there have been color overlaps like the apparently very rare purple '99's. ------------------ This message has been edited by Spyder on 08-25-2001 at 03:00 PM |

Spyder, I don't know where you got your information, but the two colors I have, I know you have wrong. There were a few Purple Prowlers made in '97. To be exact there were 457. The '99 Prowlers were built in '98 & '99. There were 1134... Not rare. On this site Mike K has all the stats. http://www.prowleronline.com/facts.php Also the orange will be made in '02, as well as '01, or at least that's the plan. ------------------ |

I just keep seeing this ad in Dupont Registry from Tony Domiano auto sales for a 2000 black tie. Last month it said it had like 5000 miles and now they have a 2000 on autotrader.com that they say has 10 miles? I called about both at different times and they swear they are a 2000.I think the 2000 red is going to be a rare car with only 191 made, I tried to order the new candy red and no go. Not until Dec. I have a 2000 yellow so that was made in limited # in 2000 it was not listed in the 2000 brochure, they were made late in the year. I have 2001 black tie 55 and 2000 woodward 143. 2000 Black, 2001 Plymouth orange. And 3 trailers. If they don't make this red I am gonna look for a 2000 in the old red. |

Spyder, I have seen 1998 Cats on Ebay. That would really be rare. Maybe you can't believe everything that you read. The people that post here will give you the straight scoop. The sales people usually do not have a clue. |

hey, if i'm wrong, than i'm wrong. these model year colors come straight from chrysler's pr dept. as i mentioned, there was overlap on some of the color choices. thats all i said. never said that i was 100% right. there's obviously conflicting info coming from DC. anyway, its really not worth arguing about. ------------------ This message has been edited by Spyder on 08-26-2001 at 02:06 PM |

Here's how to really find out when the car was actually assigned to the production line, since this is when the VIN number is assigned to the car. The 10th digit in the VIN number specifies the year: (V= 1997, X= 1999, Y= 2000, 1= 2001). Always check the VIN number first when in doubt. There is one Woodward registered in the Owners Registry that has an X in the tenth digit. It's owned by Ron Langely of Cheyenne Wy. It's possible that Ron entered the VIN number wrong, however I guess it also could be possible that this car was assigned a VIN number in the 1999 year! Decoding and Understanding Your VIN Number: This info is posted at the bottom of the page in the Owners Registry for future reference. ------------------ |
