My wife is trying to talk me into buying one of them funky Chevrolet trucks but I want a Prowler.

I think that in time the Prowler will be more of a collector than an SRS.

What do you guys think?

I believe it is actually called an SSR and I would NOT waste a dime on one as I think they are ugly ... but that is my opinion.

If you decide to go with the SSR...opt for the '05 model year..it has a larger V-8 than previous model years and will be worth more over time.

Sorry about that. I guess I should have previewed my message before I posted it.

Anyway, I think the Prowler is the best bet. I don't think I would have a need for both since I already have a VX.

I'm not a collector, I just like coool cars.

I agree with chromer. If you need something to haul 2 bails of straw or a couple of bags of groceries then an '05 SSR wouldn't be too bad. Otherwise, I have parked next to them at shows and get more kudos and looks. Also, they made more in the first year or so than the total number of Prowlers so I think that says something too.

With out a doubt, take your wife for a ride in a Prowler.
I knew I liked them for the looks but driving one is what sold me. It is like driving a piece of art, also like a true Hot Rod with all the modern goodies. The attention they get on the road is unbeliveable. I have owned over a hundred cars always in search of a car that I would want to keep. The Prowler has not let me down. It is without a doubt the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. If I ever sold my Prowler it would only be to get a different color Prowler.

SSR, hands down. I would go to the SSR site and ask the same question. I would bet all of them will agree with ME. lol

I think so too. She didn't like the VX until she got behind the wheel.

I think she will like the Prowler it just looks like it has more room. There are a lot of them on the road around here and I have only seen a couple of Prowlers in the last year.

I like that fact a lot.

If you looing for a car inverstment, the prowler and the ssr are not the perfect "housenumber".The Prowler is more hot rod and by fare the better headturner than the ssr.
The Prowler used car prices are compare to other makes in this price class high. The best thing /for fun is, if you own both !. The SSR 2005 rides better than the prowler, more comfort, more cargo, better steering, LS-2 V8 with 390HP, 450HP and soon +500hp. With air-ride and some flamejob it could be a nice showcar too. But it will never turn as many heads as a Prowler. I think i will be a long time gone" till this cars getting high dollars on the collector car market.

Used, LOW milegae Kats are going UP in price, big time.
SSR prices are droping like flies.
Perhaps in 10+ years, low mileage SSRs MAY start to pick up but Chevy has (and still is) making way too many of them to be a collector car (truck).
Yes, it has way more storage room and is more "practical" but IMO that's about it
I can buy 04 (SSRs) for around 29K, any color, very low mileage,(like 300 to 1000) I'll be happy to get one for you. (Add 1K for my trouble)

Never really cared for the SSR............seems too big and I don't think it is as much a head-turner as the Prowler.....but of course, to each his own!

It all depends if your wife is going to drive the car daily. If so the SSR is a lot more comfortable and it has a trunk. I own an SSR and a prowler. This is my second prowler and I love it, but it would suck to have to drive it everyday, in all weather conditions. The SSR rides good and the top will not leak. Plus if something happens to an SSR it is easily replaceable/repairable where as a prowler is not. I let GM mechanics work on my SSR, but on a prowler it is hard to find a good mechanic to fix problems.

The 2005 SSR are very nice rides. My brother just bought 1 in the "Aqua Blur" color. It turns alot of heads, runs very strong and has a very nice ride. I like the concept but if I had to choose between the two I would stay with my Orange Prowler.
I would give up the ride for the "ULTIMATE HEADTURNER" anyday.

Judging by the used car lots around here: I have seen the same yellow SSR moved from car lot to car lot since spring and it is not selling, but a 1997 Prowler with 30K and in my opinion overpriced at $29,500.00 sold in about a week.
I see a 100 SSR's to every Prowler, and 90% seem to be yellow! But it is a pretty neat looking truck that I bet with the 500HP engine would haul a$$!
Go ahead and get one of each-it's only money and you only live once-but remember "He who dies with the most toys-still dies"!

i don't think there is a car on the planet that i would get rid of my prowler for !!(i may buy that other vehicle, but the prowler will always be in my garage)
i drove my friends ssr for a week, and decieded to buy the hemi magnum instead (best move i ever made).
love the hemi soo much, already ordered the srt hemi magnum in the same burgandy color, should have it sometime in oct. of this year.
ssr is nice looking, but the prowler is in a class of its own and always will be
just my thoughts

The prowler is in the garage and the SSR is my daily driver. I like the SSR because is has a great comfortable ride and a huge "trunk". It is different enough that I do not see myself everyday coming and going as I would in a similarly priced car. I get bored with cars easily and the Prowler and SSR are not boring. The convertible top is sweet. I have added some mods, to personalize it and I am very pleased with it.

Richard, very, very nice. I really can see me in a SSR. I really don't care what a car is going to sell for in 10 years. As far as the prowler goes I love it,but i will sell

Get the 05 Model, everyone I know locally that bought the 04 has nothing but problems, leaky tops, wind noise, I also read that there were many improvments to the 05 suspension and frame strength, not metion the new C6 Vette engine and even a 6 speed available.
