Well, after five and a half years and 14,000 miles, I managed to wreck my Prowler. The insurance company has declared it a total loss - the CoolMobile is gone...
I’ve anticipated everyone’s questions and sentiments about this and have prepared an FAQ:

When did it happen?
Monday, February 20 – Presidents’ Day, 12:30 PM

Where did it happen?
South Mountain Park in Phoenix, on the road to the TV towers.

Why did it happen?
Because it was a great day and I was having a great time and something HAD to go wrong! Actually, I hit a sandy spot on a blind curve, went off the road and ran into a boulder.

How fast were you going?
15-20 MPH before I hit the boulder, 0 MPH after I hit the boulder!

Where you hurt?
No.

Why weren’t you hurt?
I wasn’t going fast enough to get hurt!

Did you cry?
Yeah, but I don’t think anyone saw me!

Does this mean the value of the rest of our Prowlers will go up?
I don’t know – I do know that the value of one Prowler in particular has gone DOWN!

Anyway, the insurance company is going to make me whole and the CoolMobile II is already in the garage - I'll post pics soon. Thanks for evryone who gave their support during my time of grieving!.
Also, if anyone has an interest in all or part of this car, let me know.
Onward...

I don't think the bumpers would have saved me - the point of impact was square on the nose and down low.

Curt - I'm interested in the whole car,,,,,if the price is right. Storage fees has to be killing the insurance company. Keep me posted, thanks.

BTW - I don't remember you ever paying me the $10 for the AC chrome grill treatment system installed on the Coolmobile #1 ............... might be a mute point now.

When Karen finishes cleaning the new cat,,,post some pictures and change your avatar.

Brad - No ticket issued,,,,,but 'rumor' has it that the police officer walked away with two fifties wedged in his pocket

I would be interested in the whole car as well, assuming the price is right. Otherwise, I would be interested in the upper dash & interior door panels.

Brad - that skid mark you see behind my car isn't mine. This particular curve has seen a lot action - there are dozens of skid marks in both directions on both sides of that little crest you see behind my car. The park rangers and the Phoenix police officer that came out told me people wreck there all the time. In fact, there were parts of other cars lying on the ground near my car.
I didn't get any tickets - no injuries, no property damage and no other cars involved.

Yes, the insurance company declared the car a total loss - it won't be getting repaired.

Larry,
Does that mean I can't apply for the Lifetime Double Your Money Back Guarantee?

What a great question! I wondered that myself! Those boulders didn't just happen to be there - they were put there as kind of a makeshift guard rail. But there was no hazard beyond the boulders - just a big, flat area of dirt. There were no rocks, no cactus or plants, no cliffs, nothing! If the boulders weren't there, I suppose I would have slid to a stop.

Glad to hear you are OK and that everything worked out. Are you keeping the damaged car? I thought the insurance companies usually take them to salvage.

Sure doesn't look like enough damage to right off.
But then again the blue book value for these cars is pathetic.

Curt - the Lifetime, Double Your Money Back Warranty** on the AC Chrome Grill Treatment System carries a small print footnote which reads:

** Unless exposed to any one of the following conditions - sun, rain, or snow

I know for a fact your yellow cat had seen all three of the disclaimer situations, lol. Sorry, you are out of luck this time!

Show me another car I can drive for 7 years, put on over 50,000 miles and then sell it for over 80% of what I paid for it.
All the time driving one of the coolest cars on the road and being treated like a celebrity evey time I stop to get gas.
The resale isn't low at all and even seems to be going up lately.
