DO NOT USE WHEEL CONCEPTS in California. (1) Take good photos of your wheels BEFORE you turn them over for rechroming so you can document their condition going into the process in case there are problems. Check this thread: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/014236.html Good Luck. This message has been edited by Bob Miller on 04-01-2006 at 10:12 PM Don2000Cat I'm thinking about having my front wheels rechromed, a place in Houston called Atlas Plating will do the job for 225.00 per wheel. Anyone out there have any experience with rechrome on the original chrome wheels? whealy Here's at least one previous post that may be interesting to ya. 392HEMI Had both fronts re-chromed in Miami, $250 each and there were little teeth marks left in 4 spots on the inner barrel, but they look great. 2000Cat Thanks for the input on rechroming wheels, I assume if I buy new factory wheels, the pealing will still happen, that the new wheels are no better than the originals. Anyone out there have had there wheels replaced and had the second set peal ?? 392HEMI Take a search on peeling chrome wheels, you will find 500 posts. There are some that are new in the plastic and boxes that have started to peel and others with no problem what so ever BATT-KAT SENT ALL 4 TO KEYSTONE AUTOMOTIVE IN DENVER A MONTH AGO THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE STRIATING AND ARE IN THE PLATING STAGE RIGHT NOW I WILL POST WHEN I GET THEM BACK Bob Miller 2000CAT - About six weeks ago I called a couple of D-C dealers about new front (17") wheels. When I asked about the original pealing problems, one parts guys said that D-C had changed the part # for the front wheels "recently" (he did not say when it changed exactly) and he took that to mean D-C had a new supplier for the wheels.
(2) Have a garage like Goodyear, etc check your wheels to ensure they are not bent or "egged." No sense in spending money rechroming if the wheels have a structural problem you are unaware of right now.
(3) Take the wheels in person and talk to the technicians about what they need to do and agree on what the final product will look like.M&C Bumgarner We own two 2001 Chrysler Prowlers, Blue and Orange---and have had problems for the past year with both cars wheels peeling, even longer with the blue. D/C did replace the right rear on the blue about one year after we bought the blue, but it now had peeled too. At the present time, we are trying to get D/C to do something through our dealer. So far we are still waiting. We think Prowler owners should pressure D/C about a recall, as it is a reflection on their product at cars shows. If not corrected, we will continue to go to car shows and cruises, and let the public view the quality. You can contact us at candyroaster@hotmail.com Don I sent all four wheels to PlatCorp in Orange CA. A thousand dollors I received them back about a month later and I was not satisfied with one front and one rear, I sent them back and I got the rear ok but the front went back (6) times before it was right. They told me that the problem was because of three composition of aluminum and the welding of the barrel to the rim. I actually got one rim back and could peal the chrome off. I think the problem is due to the porisity in the casting of the barrel. It would be nice if you could go and see theie operation and talk to them. Hope this helped you.
