galaxieHi, Well you guys really did it to me. I was at the Woodward Cruise with my 59 Galaxie convertible, cruising down Woodward and a Lady pulled next to me with her Prowler. I told her what a beautiful car she had and she said she organized a cruise to Woodward. I asked her where all the cars were and she said look behind you. That's when I saw 70+ Prowlers, what a sight. I got hit with the bug. Long story short I now own a 2001 Orange Prowler with 1200 miles on it. Picked it up in Chicago and drove it to Cleveland, Ohio - What a ride! Being a newbee I would like to know a couple things. Do you suggest I get an extended warranty. Also, since this car doesn't have many miles should I change the fluids. Can't wait to hear and possible meet some of you Prowler enthusiasts. Thanks, MacProwler Mac
Bcoffman Gray GhostWelcome to the club. It will change your life. Chalk up another one for CJ.
Randy CobbWELCOME!

Others who are more knowledgable about such can advise on the fluids, but 110% YES get an extended warranty!

I am one of the few owners who didn't get one and what a mistake. Replacement parts are expensive and can eat up the cost of an extended warranty in one or two incidents.

mike82welcome galaxie.if it were me,i would at least change the oil(mobile 1).congrats,,,
BeWareWelcome to the POA family. I was in that line of 70+ Prowlers. The lady you spoke with is CJ. Most of the time I was running next to her. Purple Prowler with the big Panther on the deck (trunk) lid. Many here run full synthetic oil and I change mine every 3500 miles. The Prowler really requires no special maintenance and that is one of the many many nice things about this car. I recommend you get fender flaps for the front fenders which will save your paint from getting chipped and ceramic brake pads will save you a lot of wheel cleaning. You can only use ceramic pads on the front rotors because the rears are made of a composite.

JCProwlerCongrats on your new ride! I also have a 01/Orange, I just got mine 2 weeks ago with 3,300 miles, just luv that Orange Pearl!
ALLEY CATWELCOME TO THE POA!!!

Change oil to Mobil 1

ENJOY THE RIDE

Call 911 - there is a Prowler in my garage....
Y2K Silver Millennium Edition and '01 Orange Rolex Edition

Mike DowneyWelcome to the world of Prowling. I have only had mine since April, 3,000 miles ago. I like others would recommend Mobil 1, mud flaps (at least on the front) and ceramic brake pads. Told my wife when I bought mine that it would stay exactly as it was. Well, after the ceramic brakes and mud flaps there were shimmers for the rear bumper, steering wheel and engine dress up kit followed by a tranny cooler cover.

Have fun and enjoy your new ride. I was at Woodward also and the Prowler folks are the best. Make it a point to attend one of the events and get to know everyone.

ChromerWelcome Galaxie!!

halicatwelcome,

I picked up my Kat 1 year ago this week, put it away last Nov 1st and put her back on the road April 1.....I've logged 18,000 miles... each one more fun than the last...these cars are an engineering marvel and the coolest thing on the road (JMO)...
but the best part is the support and friendship all these guys and gals at the POA offer... a finer bunch you will never find.....

Especially AC and Ed...
they make the price of admission the best deal in town...

pumpkinWelcome, nice color. Get an oil change, mud flaps, check on the ball joint re-call. Learn the front end quick, you will scrape the nose. Post often on the POA, a lot of good info here.I tried to keep mine stock but you may get carried away. That is the fun with this car. What ever have fun with it.

Suggest you change the brake fluid. One owner of a 2001 reported absolutely black fluid after 2 years. Take a look at my post at: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001837.html

ed monahanWelcome and glad you took CJ's advice and joined us here. I would also suggest that you be very careful with the soft top. Always secure it in the trunk with the tie down straps so it does not vibrate. Be careful closing the trunk lid so as to not catch the top in the mechanism.
Read the Prowler story on this site on the main menu. Very interesting along with the facts and stats.
Lone Ranger

Congratulations. Now repeat all the above advice at least once.

DUSTICONGRATULATIONS MAC !

And Welcome to the POA !!

Enjoy your new ride and all the smiles that go with it !
