keesI guess by now you all know that my Prowler is going
through certification in Europe and that's a cumbersome
process with a lot of " your not serious about this are
you !!!" remarks to the authorities. Both Austrian Prowler
and Condor must have gone through a similar process.
Just to give you a flavour of what I have to do to my
Prowler just for certification I have included the
following pic. Does not make me a happy camper for the
time being. However...................

Good news : This is for certification only and can be
taken off once I have it OK'ed. Strange but true.

Best regards,

Kees

halicatoh kees !!

that photo is disturbing !! i feel bad you have to see your baby being dressed up like a 2 bit ho....you will have to do something special for her when its all over...

chin up !

tangled up in BLUEKees, you are lucky, this is the certification process in Kentucky, USA .....

....keep us posted on this subject.....I find it most interesting.....I sold a Kat several years ago that went to Australia......the new owner spent as much converting the car than he paid for the it......

CJOh, my.........Kees........does it get darker there than here that you need lights that large! lol!

It'll be worth it in the end though......hang in there!

DUSTIOh crap ! They cannot be serious !!

Kees, take a deep breath and try to forget this horrible image - like you already mentioned, Austrian Prowler told me in detail the scrutiny he had to go thru in order to receive his 'registration' for Austria !

THAT IS UNREAL to say the least !!What a ridiculous act on part of the authorities !

Hang in in there Kees - just don't pi$$ them off or they'll give you more hassles !

DAMN !

Bob GoetzHey Upside to those very fashionable lights is you will never hit a curb cause you can see where the front of the car is.

Looks like you are getting close to taking her home!

butchceeI hope you get that certification done soon so you can turn that frog back into a prince! What did you put over the stock headlights? Looks like some kind of film.

Black Tie 161Next, they will make you wear a beanie hat with a propeller on top when you drive?!?!

Oh well, at least you can take it off...did they ruin the bumper putting that monstrosity on?

keesThanks for your compassion. Will take another 2 weeks
and then I can restore it to it's original glamour
and enjoy the ride.

(headlights are covered with grey tape, they do not have
an E-mark which means certified for European use and thus
are not certified and cannot be used for the tests. Also
the lights are taped to the fender so I can take it off
with ease)
Not as bad as the 'Kentucky certification' above but still
very close.

And I do agree with Dusti that it is better not to p.....
authorities off until this process is over. I think
it's universal all over the globe.

Best regards,

kees

Jim CDon't leave that duct tape on too long or you will have one hell of a time getting it off. That stuff makes a terrible mess...
condorHello, Kees

usually they should be not a big difference in Car Registration between Europe States.
I had not to change a lot on the Prowler.
We dont have to change the front lights. ( Ausnahmegenehmigung Abblendlicht)

I can send you a points what has to be done.
If nessesary a mail you a copy of the EU-BRD Title.

Greetings , "Condor"

keesCondor,

Used all the forms from your CD including the ausnahme-
genemigung but it didn't help with this inspector.
Nevertheless I just got confirmation that it has past TUV
compliance now the only thing that needs to be done is get
it through a minor certification in The Netherlands and I'm
done.

Best regards,

Kees

OrangeGood luck kees!
Austrian ProwlerKees, your mods look unbelievable!
Don´t tell Roman (DR Prowler) or Chris (cnote6) about your mods, otherwise they also want the new "frontlook"-mod for their cats.

O.K., to be serious:
Before seeing your pics I thought Austria have the stupidest authorities. Now I am not sure anylonger.
Also in Austria the German "Ausnahmegenehmigung Abblendlich" was not accepted. So I have to put the smallest available frontlights with E-proofsign on my frontbumpers. The low beams I had to dismantle from the headlights. The high beams could remain in the original headlights without E-proofsign. Also the orange parklights (in the turnsignals) I had to change to white beams. The front turnsignals have to beam at the same times like the sidepanel lights and not changeable like original.
I think I showed you my frontpic in another topic.

On the backside your Inca-Lady should look like my Mulholland.

I don´t understand our authorities, that we have to do these "monstermods", because everyone there knows that the next day we take these mods off. But what should I say, if they like this way .....

Kees, hold out! I can tell ya, it is worth every minute to fight with the registration authorities, because your Prowler will give you so much fun back!!! Now you are nearly before the fun can start, ..... but damned it is winter in Europe. O.K. you Dutch-guys don´t have so much snow, like we have in Austria.

Gery http://

DR PROWLERHey Kees....as soon as I saw the look,it made me decide to finally leave the bumpers on and go with it.....that is priceless!
Gery, being Austrian myself I know that importing a car is a challenge in itself and that's what detters a lot of people from doing it in the first place. You guys are Die-hards,what can I tell you!
KroooozerFortunately we had a waiver on the headlights as we have strict regulations in regards to the distance they are apart. At one stage it was proposed that we would have to put the small hotrod type 7" sealed beam types on but sanity prevailed. We do however have to put turn signals on the mirrors as the side panel indicators are not far enough out to see at all angles. I have spoken with the conversion guys and its unbelievable the certification they have to get even to have these mirror lights tested. The left to right conversion costs will be a killer though at around AUS$35k. My import taxes are around AUS$15k....that totals about how much I had to pay for the car in the first place...we have to put brand new tires, brake linings and all filters changed as part of the conversion regardless of how old they are. I cannot get any parts back (except tires) after the works done .....hopefully it will be here early 2005 as container space is not available at the moment...can't wait.
