condorI talked to many prowler owners who have around 25000 + miles on their Cat. Most of them know the problems from
Front shocks loosing oil
Wheels loose chrome ...
Hood support doesn´t hold the hood up anymore

The ball join recall is for all prowlers but I think most prowler Owners have to go to this other problems too, .. sooner or later

........ but anyway , the Prowler Factory Hot Rod is still my favorit car and it brings me maximum of fun ..........

Gary CSmall problems in my book, glad to are still enjoying,,,

I agree. My wifes 2002 Trailblazer has had i believe seven recall notices, a new battery, short in the wiring harness, bad CD player, various plastic pieces coming off, broken rear door strap(twice) broken drivers door clips, front bumper clips loose (three times) etc. If the majority of problems with our kats are only those mentioned above what's so bad?
YellowFeverA fair number have had problems with the room leaking or worse having the roof rub holes in the roof while stowed in the trunk. This happened to my last one with only 150 miles on the OD.
ed monahanCondor, I have 34,000 plus and I have not had shock problems. I had two wheels replaced very early on (4 years ago) and have not had any new problems. I did replace the hood shocks last year. That is a lot of hood for that small of a shock but it is no big deal, in my book.
Don't forget most people do not report that they are not having problems. If you have a problem you tend to report it, but that is a small percentage, usually.
Close to 5 years and not even considering getting rid of it. It is still a blast to drive every time.
CatDudeThere is a lot of info on this old thread:

condorYes this are no big problems what I´m talking about. And hey , I have that hole in the top ( right side rear ) too.
My new all aluminum Audi was 6 times in 2003 in the Audi Garage. ( new AC, headlights, right front axles, paint problems, computer problems....)
I know lots about cars and 20 years ago I learned car mechanics an vw/audi/porsche. I´m a little bit critic in this thinks. Driving, buying and builing pre 1949 Street Rods is my car hobby. And, with street rods you are going to a differnt word of car problems !
I enjoy my prowler a lot. Over the wintertime will put a chrom front end in the cat , get some flames on the side and work on a adjustable shocks for the front .
And , this forum is by the best in the world of car forums.
It helped me a lot to learn about my prowler. POA is a very professional side !!
My car show seeson starts end of april, so I have to spend some hour´s in my garage now
....... greetings -C-.
......................... hey, and sorry for my bad school english writing.

Is it hard to get your car serviced in Germany?
FL Blue KatI don't think the hood supports have anything to do with mileage. We have just under 9,000 on our kat and had them replaced (under warranty) about 2 months ago. They just gave out. According to my tech they only last about 3 years before they require replacing.

Just a wild thought when I read this. Based on the series of other posts on "cold air intake", it seems the general consensus is that the underhood temperature in a prowler is rather high. Is it possible that the hood struts are designed for a lower temperature and "burn out" quicker in a prowler?

-GRROWL

CatDudeRight now, my hood struts are starting to fail. When it is cold they do not work. When it is warm, they work fine. As far as wear and tear/longevity, I would hazzard a guess that changing temperatures have more effect on shortening lifespan than high temperatures.

My car is two years old. It has been through more temperature cycles than many prowlers. I don't have a garage - just keep it covered outside.

CJCondor.........I've not had the problems you mention with either of my cats, although a number of owners have. I doubt there are any cars out there that don't experience problems of some kind. However, the pleasure that the Prowler provides far outweighs any problems!! At least that's the way I feel!
