This topic was recently discussed on the Viper board and applies even more-so to the Prowler. Do you think, if you had the time, patience, space, etc, would you make more today selling a good condition Prowler for $30,000 or so (US dollars) or by parting out the car? What do you think? My own guess is at this stage, it may be very close either way, but if you waited it out for desperate buyers, you would make more parting. The key would be to find enough folks that would want every part. ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 12-17-2003 at 01:48 PM ------------------ This message has been edited by Wayne Finch on 12-19-2003 at 05:41 PM Wayne Finch I know this is sacrilege but......... MIKE GATLIN Wayne, I thnk the perfect situation would be for me to part out 1 of your Prowlers! Wanna do it!! ETMIDZT Wayne,
I bet 5-8 yrs. down the road, parting out a Prowler would make you some big $$$$! JMOYellowFever Someone at Ford told me years ago that if you built a Ford Pinto that cost $5K on the showroom floor from buying parts
in the parts department, it would cost about $30K.Bob Goetz Quick break down on major used parts that sell fast:
Hood $1000
Trunk lid $1000
Grill $250
Headlights ( 2 ) $800 pair
Side Panels ( 2 ) $1000 pair
Lower side panels ( 2 ) $500 pair
Front Suspension Complete $1800
Wheels Chrome $1200 set
Now you are left with the slow moving parts
Motor $1000
Trans Axle complete $1200
Frame $2500
Doors ( 2 )$1000 each
Rear Quarter Panels ( 2 ) $500 each
Interior complete ( door panels , carpet, seats,counsel )$1000
Dash Pad $250
Stereo $300
Front sub structure $1000
Body tub $2500
Top $1000
everything that's left $2000
So for $30000 at this point I would sell it whole.

BeWare As YF said it would be mmuch easier finding a single buyer for the whole car versus finding a buyer for each and every part. At this point in the short life of the Prowler that could take years. Top Kat I agree with B G, at this point in time; parting out would not bring the big bucks for the time invested in disassembly. I would find a buyer for the entire car. Twenty years from now that could be a different story, yet a complete car may be worth more than the sum of it's parts. Kelley Austin Bob,
Didn't I just read somewhere on one of the posts that a frame alone goes for about $7k? Bob Goetz Yes but that is new not used, the prices I posted are what I feel used parts are worth based upon what I have sold them for in the past and how fast they they sell. Now once DC does not need to make replacement parts and their inventory is deleted it will be a sellers market, I am not positive on the number of years they need to make replacement parts but I think it is 10 years so if that is the case 2012 is when you will see the used part market prices explode. I have seen used 71 Cuda front fenders in like new shape sell for $1000 to $2500 and also have seen a new old stock fender ( OEM part never used ) sell for $6000.

Key Man Wayne don't do it!
Someone would get real enjoyment out of owning a Prowler.
Sell it but not to someone in my neighborhood.Wayne Finch Al, it's just a theorectical discussion - I don't have any plans to part out my car - nor do I have the time to do so.
