porsche nutter	Hello any and all, I am new to this forum and have not posted before. I do not own a Prowler (however I love these cars!), but I am looking for some Prowler help. A friend of mine whose fabulous body shop helped restore a couple of my cars is in need of a little assistance. He has a customers Plymouth Prowler with a hit to the front. It is not a big hit, however there does not seem to be much up front, just chasse! From what I could see of this fabulous car (my first good look at a Prowler!) it has a one-piece alum chasse, and has a crack in the front section ahead of the suspension. I was told CRY will only supply a new complete chasse. Is this true? This front section of chasse is cracked and my friend feels that it cannot be satisfactorily repaired, so it must be replaced or fabricated. So my friend is in need of the front piece of chasse to just behind the aft attachment of the front suspension (about the first 3-4 feet). There seems to be a factory weld here. My friend is not having much luck finding a donor car/wreck (even asked me!). I am a member of a couple of Porsche forums and find these forums to be great places for assistance and to share advice, and experience. I found your web site on the web and thought I would ask for help. Does anyone here know of the whereabouts of a Prowler parts car, or more specifically this front piece of chasse? ANY info, or leads (big or small) will be greatly appreciated. I owe my friend for many extra coats of clear, and a couple “lets start again”. Marty Usher	My understanding is any damage to the frame means replacing the entire frame. There are some on this forum that have experience with this and I am sure will reply when they see your post. BeWare	Most of the wrecked Prowlers I have seen pictures of, all have front end damage and usually much more serious that what you describe. catfish	how bad is frame?is it cracked or cracked/bent.if just cracked it should be able to be repaired. there are some good aluminum welders and techs out there.i know of one here in az.guy does terrific work.have you checked it out.if not repairable,try a section,if you can find a good frame,w/ good section that you need.a couple of years ago somebody posted photos of a burned yellow,from what i remember frame didnt look touched.anybody out there remember who it was.another outlet, find a wrecking yard who carries nothing but late model wrecks,they can do a online seach for you.talking to somebody about a month ago,who said he new of one who was buying nothing but prowler totals,if i find out what state i will post.may take alittle while to find out who.last alternative, buy new frame about 7200.00 list price.about 3 day job to change.good luck. ------------------ This message has been edited by jan bruggeman on 12-17-2003 at 06:10 AM

WildCat	I think as the cars age,we will be willing to do some things to repair them that is not being done now. One being put on a frame rack and straighten an weld them back together. This is not a new idea, they have been welding steel frames from the begining of time. I have seen complete cars cut in half and pieced back together. NO I WOULD NOT WANT THAT, but a simple weld infront of the suspension should not hurt the structure of the car. Good luck

porsche nutter	Thanks for the replies all! Bob Goetz, I was hoping to send you an email about this before now, but I am on the road with work. BeWare was kind enough to pass along your name. The frame is cracked in a few places ahead and around the front suspension attachments. This is not my car, and I am no b-man, but to me the aluminum seems quite brittle here as it appeared to crack rather than bend. So I thought that the rack was a waste of time. Do you know of a frame section for sale? I will drop by my friends shop and let him read through this tread. I will also try to snap a pic and post it for you to see.
