They did a great job, no problems whatsoever. They even replaced all the center caps! This was the fourth Prowler where they had to replace all the rims. While it was there, I had the Trailer Hitch installed. Now just waiting for delivery of the trailer, maybe in the next week or two. ------------------ Maxwell is opening a new service facility next month and will have an open house on 20 Sep. Rumor is that they will be giving coupons for a free dyno run on their new indoor (air conditioned) Dynojet dyno. Let me know if you'd like to attend. We'll probably attend with Prowler or Viper. Hope to see you with the new trailer soon. ------------------ Oh well, you can't have everything! They still look better than the old ones. Poor Steve wouldn't even follow me anymore, he was afraid the chrome chips flying off my rims would take out his windshield! ------------------ I did find this weekend that the Dealer mounted one of my front tires backward on the rim. They are going to fix it this week. And when this set peels, I'll go back for another! KEEP UP YOUR WARRANTEE! ------------------ I could get new wheels at the end of my warranty and be in the same situation a year later. I am now wondering about having the inside of the wheels painted black someday.....Anyone try this? I would hate to go through all the trouble of getting new wheels under warranty and get someone else's rechromed out-of-round rejects!!! Maybe I'll just save my pennies and get a GOOD set of chromed rims from ANOTHER company that takes pride in their work. American racing wheels are POS and so is DC's customer satisfaction efforts!!! Correct, TLR, somebody did post that they WERE HAVING their wheels replaced under extended warrantee (did not close the loop and state that they WERE replaced) over at : Based upon the above facts, the following questions arise: 1. Are all Chrysler Max-Care extended warrantees the same, or do they vary? -GRROWL P.S. - Here's a related question: Are center caps covered under Extended Warrantee? MY Max-Care specifically excludes "wheel covers", but the center caps only cover the hub area, not the wheel area (they would need to be 17" or 20" in order to be "wheel covers"). Or, again, might there be a "hidden warranty" on such high-casualty parts? My point is, if Chrysler is covering parts for some prowler owners who are beyond the warranty (and they're specifically excluded under the Extended Warranty), wouldn't it be fair to cover them for EVERYONE? ------------------ I am also afraid of opening a can of worms by trying to get my front wheels replaced. I might get stuck with someone else's used rims that were rechromed. So I go through all that trouble just to be worse off than when I started? Is it really true replacement wheels are actually recycled rims that were rechromed? If that is true, I may just still save my pennies and get all new rims from a company that knows how to chrome a rim without it peeling in a year...I mean, c'mon, how pathetic is that?!?. It is obvious American racing wheels are a shoddy product and they don't know how to chrome anything properly. The problem is knowing that DC is replacing the wheels with the identical replacement, meaning the new ones will peel in a year anyway! So I'm starting to think "why bother?". I am tempted to black out my inner front rims or switch out altogether to another wheel company who knows how to chrome a wheel. The kicker is....DC called a ball joint recall only because NHTSA forced them to, as it was a safety issue. The bubbling wheels SHOULD have been a recall as well, but NHTSA can't force a recall on those as it really is just a cosmetic problem. So we got screwed in the end...THANKS DC! (The only vagueness is regarding center caps - "Wheel covers" are excluded, but I would contend that center caps are NOT wheel covers since they do not cover the 17" or 20" wheel, only the hub area - and "hub caps" are NOT excluded.) BTW, I have come to the conclusion that the "out of round" problem is due to the fact that the wheels are cast, not forged. 2001 King Ranch Edition Ford F-150TriJim Tom -- Didn't realize you had a problem with wheels -- bubbling chrome? I had center caps replaced by Maxwell (Austin) last week (broken tabs), but will put them aside since I decided to install axle caps and chrome lug nuts. Maxwell also took care of the ball joint recall.

www.FEViper.com TLRandall Thanks - the only thing I don't like is that it looks like these are rechromed returns and they just rechromed the inside dish, not the outside. Two of the rims appeared they were not cared for by the previous owner and are a little pitted. I'm going to have the dealer look at those, as they really didn't polish up the way I hoped they would.

Yes, I am entitled under warranty, but is it worth it to receive replacement rims that are in worse shape? I read about replacement rims being out of round, scratched, or damaged when installed incorrectly. I am starting to think that any American Racing replacement rim will peel again anyway, so why absorb all the aggravation over and over again? TLRandall BT - Some folks are on their third and fourth set. Compared to what my old set ended up looking like, I have improved substantially! And trust me, I do take great care of my car. The rims had never been in the rain, and hose washed only once since I owned them. Once they started peeling, it went downhill FAST!

I have until July of next year to resolve the 3-36,000 warranty coverage, then it's just the drivetrain under extended. TLRandall I may be mistaken, but I thought someone posted a while back that they had their rims replaced under the extended warrantee. Oh well, I guess it is going to depend a lot on your dealer and how well he is willing to work out your problems. So far, I'm in good shape there! GRROWL Correct, BT, at least MY Max-Care Extended Warrantee specifically excludes wheels.

IMO, once things are replaced under warranty, it sets a precedent for others getting them replaced unless the warranties are in fact different, or unless its clearly written it was done as a courtesy, but that would be a decision made in court if you felt like going thru that hassle and expense. Most likely, you would lose, as then YOUR warranty would be looked at for wording. You would need testimony from the ones that had them replaced under warranties that excluded them. Its obvious there is a big problem with the rims, and DC (or the dealers, as the case may be) shouldn't be playing the word game with their loyal customers. They should just do what's right. If they choose not to, tell them you know Tom.
Hub caps and wheel covers should be 2 different things.

a 20x10 in the rear for my Prowler. They even changing the
off-set to fill the wheel-wells better, not more spacers.
