dj4hiredo you know what category to register you car for a car show, custom modified 1980-present, sports car, special interest???? thanks
JUST JPI usually go for special interest, but if there is a category where not too many cars fit; I go for that one. Example: '90 or newer production car

2000 Black Kat
"self-proclaimed" poorest Prowler owner

mods:
1) ceramic pads 2) Bill's 2.1 intake with EGR bypass 3) "cracked ice" shimmers
4)58,000+ (s)miles

MeanGenedj4hire,

You guys should order "AlleyCat Events Secrets". I followed them to a "t".

Rule one: Send the sublimal "think red" tape to all the judges for the event - one week ahead of time.

Rule two: Carry six or seven bags of "extra" pollen(during Spring events) - all the "other" Kats appear to be yellow.

Rule three: Take the "other" registration forms to the event - Class A (1930-39)forms for the other guys in the group to fill out.

Rule four: Call in a few favors...have the vendor hold up important parts for friends that are coming to the show.

The list goes on and on.....

ALLEY CATjust to add,,,,,,,,,,,,

Rule five: Stick a $20 bill in the pocket of all the judges,,,and be sure to write down your event # on the bill. Works for me, lol

dbudnerI've done '72-later late model, late model, original, and domestic. Considered the special interest as well but haven't done that yet.
WildCatMine has been in all the classes listed and on the ISCA show curcuit it was in exotic sports. They explain the class as limited production 2 seater's.

It is best to look to see what other cars are there. If you want to go home a winner pick the class with the least cars that your car will fit in. Also before going to a show look to see who is sponsoring the event. i don't do will in show put on by Mustang/Camaro clubs & street rods. I did get a BLUE RIBBON at the Indiana State Fair with the show being organized by the Circle City Corvette Club

I do not go to a show to WIN. I go for the fun. Before I got the Prowler I took my `67 Dodge Coronet convertible. It had about 100,000 miles and still had the original paint & interior. People wanted to know why I didn't get it painted. Well it can only be ORIGINAL ONCE.

This picture was taken in May of 98 just a month before I sold it to buy the Prowler.

No I never WON with it but i had fun going.

The Prowler I have WON alot, but I don't always win, but I most always have Fun with it.

I took the Imperial to a show and as I pulled in to register they ask me what class I wanted to put it in, I told them I didn't care. Well this one lady said put it in Mopar class, and told me "YOU HAVE A WINNER", come to find out she was one of the judges and I got 1st place in the class.

Go Have Fun, Thophies are cheap, Friendship is forever

R/TSeveral shows that will happen up here in MN have a class
called "modern limited production". Had never heard of this one before, but I can't think of any car more qualified for this class than the Prowler.....

CJThe Prowler is so unique, sometimes even the event planners aren't sure what category to put it in. Check with them and see what your options are!
Black Tie 161Usually it falls into 79-04 original category.

BTW: Ya know how to win trophies....?

Don't park next to Meangene!

Bob GoetzRick & Rose congrats on the second CANDY! Myself and R/T have learned if you want to win do not particapate in a event with Duane ( Prowler ) Hanson! Also D if you read this are you going to Texas?

TLRandallEach show I've been to is different. Some will put me in "Sport", most of the time it's "Open", some have been "Convertible" and here lately I've been in "Unmodified 90 & up"

I usually let the show organizers pick where they want me. I always try to get there early so that they will park me in the best spot!

I have had a lot of fun attending and showing, and have been pretty successful. The Kat always draws a crowd and no one likes to talk about their car more than I do!

BeWareThe category usually varies from an actual Prowler class, to Special Interest, 1990 and newer, etc. We go primarily to have fun and see our buds. But to be honest picking up a throphy here and there isn't bad either. Last week we took first in the Prowler class and also won the 50/50 drawing. I never go expecting to win but on the other hand we never would show up with our Kat anything but show ready either. Probably our most prized award is from Mopars at the Battleship in Mobile AL where we took best in show 1970 and newer. To show you that we never expected it we left the show and went to dinner at nearby resturant. One of the show officials tracked us down and gave us the award. We were floored.

Most shows I have attended don't have this as a class.

Ed W.Historically, the shows we've entered our Kat in have been charity fund raiser. We've just paid the entry fee & indicated that our car is for "exhibition only - not to be judged". We're there to support the program.

In the scheme of things, many vehicle owners have scraped by for years to get their cars in show condition. I'd rather take the "High Road" than compete against them (unfairly).
