FranciscoJRTell me what you all think about this car. Has anyone seen it? Should I look for, or ask for anything specific when inquiring about it? Thanks in advance...Francisco

p.s. Would offering 20g cash be rude?

Bob GoetzCar has alot of miles as far as Prowlers go and I am sure that is why he has it priced that way. All you can do is offer what you are willing to pay and see if you score. Good Luck!

FranciscoJRWell I could go higher then 20g...but why make my first offer the max I can afford?...lol
CJ$20,000 seems like a low offer, but you never know, they just might take it!!

If this doesn't work out and you are in the market for a new Prowler, I can help you find one anywhere in the country with a list that DC's provides to me!

tangled up in BLUEJust to compare....
...I sold a 2001 with 27K miles for $28K last spring....no mods went with the car....
...Friend sold a 99 purple last summer for $26-27K range, it had 11k miles and a few mods including custom wheels....I would look for less miles and the same $$$
dbudnerAs long as you don't mind someone possibly being rude when they blow you off, offer what you are comfortable with. The mileage is high for what I would call a collectable, but not out of the norm for something over 5 years old.
Lone Ranger

I really would be suprised if the car would go for $20,000. Certainly offer what you can afford but with new tires etc., i think $25,000 would be a fair offer.

FranciscoJR25g....cool. and not a bad price by any means. thanks guys...
jkprowlinWithout a doubt, make your offer contingent upon an inspection before sending any $$$$. While I realize this probably goes without saying, damage to these cars is EXPENSIVE to have fixed, if at all !

Kevin AI live near this Prowler. I have called to go see it and never got a return phone call. If you have any luck contacting them, let me know and I may be able to check it out for you.

Also, for the "high" miles on it, an offer in the low $20's seems fair if he has a real view of the market. He has had this car a LONG time.

Are you local to central Ohio as well?

hopeful prowlerI have was going to look at this car I called and go ahold of him and he offered to come and let me drive it because I have never driven a prowler before to see if I like it. he seemed like a very nice guy but the mileage turned me off and I ended up going with a 00 instead. there was also a yellow in grove city, Ohio around the same price on traderonline when I was looking a couple of months ago. don't know if it is still there if I remember high miles also. that is about the same location as the other one.

Who are you? If you are Really interested in buying a Prowler...then yes...in my opinion (and you asked) a 20g offer would be Rude.

If you're not, Please don't take your pass as a "guest" to drive down the prices of OUR cars?

Don't go away mad.. .... .. ....

chromer.

tomdenise1I traded in my 99 last Sept with ~28K miles, only got $17K.

I had it for sale for months, finally had to get rid of it. At some point, he may take what he can get.

t

FranciscoJRSorry I can't resist...

"If you're not, Please don't take your pass as a "guest" to drive down the prices of OUR cars?"

It's not the buyers who "drive down" the prices of vehicles. Well, not fully at least. While I may only want to pay 20g let's say for a Prowler, the seller is by no means obligated to sell it to me at 20g. He could wait and see if he could get more, and he / she might. It's illogical to expect or want a buyer to offer more money to simply keep the value of any vehicle up. I am not in it to hold the value of the car. I am merely in it for the lowest possible price...

ed monahanFrancisco, as you know people become leery when people register and do not furnish any information about themselves. This is especially true if they register more than once using somewhat similar names.
If you are truly looking for a Prowler, people will bend over backwards to help you on this site. Once they find out they are getting jacked around, they don't want to be bothered.
You were at KY Speedway last Fall and got to ride in several cars, if I remember correctly. If you want to buy a car and want help, spell out what you want, if you have a particular color in mind, and the price RANGE you are looking at.
If you are trying to steal one, it is best not to make that fact known in advance. Put in a bid and hope it works.
Good luck with your search.
FranciscoJROh I understand and it's by no means any disrespect intended. I didn't mean to offend or really bother anyone as it may have so I truly do apologize for that. My monetary situation has changed since last year. I thought since I have money now, it might be a good time to start looking. The only reason I am on a different name is I could not get on with the old one. I typed in my email address but it would not send it to me. SO yeah. I feel really bad now. While I am in it for the lowest possible price, I did not believe it would offend or bother so much...my bad.
ed monahanFrancisco, no need for an apology. What are you looking for?
What year or does it matter?
What color, or does it matter?
How many miles is the maximum you would accept?

Or is the only thing that really matters is the price?

Check the free want ads on here and go back aways. There is a heck of a deal on a couple right now, in my opinion.

99 purple for $ 30,000 with less than 4000 miles.

CJI can help if you want a new one with little or no miles. I have a list of all available new Prowlers in the country.
FranciscoJRThanks guys I appreciate the help. And Ed, I do remember the Speedway Day. It was amazing....Even though I didn't get to ride in a Prowler......lol I guess I should sit down and write specifically what I want before looking. Even if it takes a bit, proper planning now will save me headaches later huh ?

While what he wants to offer is low (today), his intended offer has nothing to do with the overall values of these (or any) cars.

This guys low offer won't lower the value of these cars just like Mike's $200K+ bid didn't raise all our values.

What dictates pricing is supply versus demand. Economics 101.

Trust me, if offering a rediculously low bid by 1 or 2 or even a handful of folks would seriously drive the prices of a car way down, then count me in for $45K as my bid for a new Ferrari Enzo

sexlessapeJust my 2 cents...

I bought my car so I can drive it, and I don't collect cars (well, not yet at least...give me a better job and that will change for sure!). For me, I expect cars to depreciate in value since cars that are driven aren't really an investment. When I was pricing, cars at that mileage seemed to be about in that range. Heck, there are people trying to sell previous rental vehicles with that much mileage on them for more money!

The good thing is that they seem to retain decent value in the short term compared to other vehicles. I don't think that either low purchase prices or the ones still in dealer inventory are lowering the resale value as there are still a number of these guys around.

Do people in general expect prowlers to appreciate in the long run, or was the production so high that they may not reach that stage for a long time (special colors excluded, of course)? I'm sure in time that our prowlers may become collectors cars. In 30 years the Prowler will still look as unique as it does today. Hard to say that about a Lexus. I'm glad that there are people who think of them as such and treat them like gold. Hopefully it'll keep some in good shape that I can pay obscene prices for if anything happens to mine

ed

ed monahaned, you seem to have a handle on the situation. I agree with almost everything you posted.
