Hang on. Someone will have the answer for you. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 11-01-2011 at 07:12 PM ------------------ As to next year's event, since I live here, I am automatically in by default. ------------------ Printed circuit board, prowler, volt Charge indicator, prowler ------------------ Nic Just put the forked end under each side of the dash pad and pry downward. It should pop right off. ------------------ This message has been edited by Kevin A on 11-03-2011 at 02:44 PM ------------------Vegas Ken My gauge is sticking. When I tap it it goes to the normal spot around 13 volts or so. Has this ever happened to anyone? Can I still get one? Any ideas would be a great help. Thanks to all. ed monahan Are you onboard for the big POA event in Vegas next May ? http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/001563.html
Lots of questions can be answered in person at that event. About 135 Prowlers already signed up.
Welcome to the POA. catfish needs new gauge,if still available from mopar. Vegas Ken I was hoping that someone would say that it was a loose wire or something. I can't wait to see what it is going to cost if I can even order one from the dealer. If all the gauges are the same, does anybody have spare parts from a wrecked one? catfish its possible it has a loose connection, pull the top of the dash off and see if its tight.the amp gauge is the only gauge that does not have a circuit board.a new gauge is about 160.00 after discount.if the wire is tight call mopar and see if they are still avaiable.since it sticks in the same spot,i doubt if its a loose wire.it needs to be checked first. jimsutton Pull the dash back and check the plug area for any corrosion pull the plug off on and on a few times might save you a few $$$ stevedymo What year is your Prowler? Only the '02 do not have a circuit board. Taken from Wholesalemopar Site:
Year 97-01
MSRP Price $85.95
Your Price $62.38
Year 97-02
MSRP Price $174.00
Your Price $125.84catfish i was wrong, it does have a circuitboard.if it was a bad board it wouldnt be a intermittent problem, when they go bad there done.i believe all prowler circuit boards have been discontinued,i still say loose connection, which i doubt or a bad gauge.let us know what you find,if the gauge has been discontinued ,i know where you can get a used one. d'niro Vegas Ken - I use to live in Vegas til last year, I have a mechnic that worked on my prowler when I lived there, if your not sure and needs someone to check for you here is his phone # (702) 385-4305 his name is Richy - tell him Nic with the yellow prowler refer you. His the only mech. that I truste to work on my prowler. Good Luck!! by the way have you every attended cars & coffee on Saturdays? Vegas Ken Thanks for all the advice, especially about a trusty mechanic here in Vegas. These guys are hard to find. I have only had it in the shop once and used the local dealer. Except for the price of the repair (ouch), they seem to know what they are doing. They have a Prowler tech on site. I will search the site to see how I remove the top of the dash to check the wiring; I type this with crossed fingers. Howard Dash removal by Pumpkin
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001188.html Kevin A To remove the top of the dash easily I'd use a trim tool you can get at any car parts store. These will remove any part held in by a "Christmas Tree" fastener as well like many of the wires in the Prowler.
To replace, just slide straight back.catfish jmo,i would not pry on the lower dash its made from a thin funky type of plastic, ive never seen before.it will crack, and showup as a line in the outside grain of the dash.it cracks on the backside and the vinyl holds it together, happened to mine when i pried against it a long time ago.maybe kevins didnt crack,,i wouldnt pry on it. Kevin A I've removed the dash pad several times this way with no marking at all.
I do take care to do it slowly and usually with a rag under the tool to soften the load on the dash.catfish im just saying,i wouldnt do it the cause it will crack on the backside.the crack will show up as a line in the vinyl.i was careful with mine and it still cracked.to avoid it grasp the dash on the very end where it wraps around by the door and pull each end loose.maybe you got lucky.mine cracked by the h/lite switch in your photo.the clips that the dash snaps into, some are a real tightfit and some arent.i repaired the dash on the backside ,but you can still see a slight line on the outside vinyl.
