Below is a link to the POA Events 2004 Section with detailed photos and descriptions of the Flameball shifter assembly installation. You can't go wrong if you follow this. Bob didn't take photos of the installation on his Prowler, so I promised I would take care of it... check it out! http://www.prowleronline.com/scrapbook/neweventview.php?id=411 |

Joe, thanks for all the instructions on the install. Looks simple enough so that even a dolt like me could do it. This is probably a stupid question, but what takes the place of the button on the original shift knob so that you can shift it out of park?

BT161 Very nice explanation of the installation. Now if only the Japanese could get you to write all their diagrams for Christmas toys! LOL Mike |

quote: This is the ingenious part of Bob's design... The whole shifter stem now pushes DOWN to release the parking lock. No more buttons! That's why it is important to realize the new set screw that holds the new stem in place is NOT intended to lock the shifter to the stock stem. The new shifter slides up and down on the stock stem via the slot in the front of it. the set screw only holds the shifter's vertical travel in check. that's why it is important to not overtighten the new set screw, or the shifter won't slide properly on the stem. Also the new set screw goes in the TOP hole, so if you ever needed to put the stock shifter back on, you still have the original (lower) set screw hole intact! Now I liked my stock shifter, but this new deal makes the old shifter look like a leather turd sticking out! |

BT - nice instructions! Don't you love the way it looks? My installation instructions were to drive the car to Real Rod and have Bob install it while I drank his beer! Bob is in some pain from a broken rib but I am sure cnote will keep him filled with 12 once pain killers! Marty |

What a guy that Bob is....posts from Cnote's computer that he will ship my ball as soon as he gets back...I posted that no rush is necessary...his health is far more important than shipping my shifter...but I really appreciate his concern. Having talked with him numerous times on the phone..I feel like he is a friend..and would urge anyone who has not done so yet, to do business with him. Quality parts from a quality guy!! |

Thanks Marty: I can't imagine putting that "leather turd" shifter back on...ever! Prowlerman: I heard that....He is usually brief online, but I have had hours of conversation with Bob on the phone... about all our favorite subject. What is possible to do next on the car? |
