Im in western Canada Lethbridge Alberta and am in need of an upper ball joint for the R/H passenger side. I see that Rare parts make's a lower but no upper, and the prowler store makes both upper and lower with mixed reviews. Is there any other options out there for me up in Canada? There's no way I want to pay $800 buck's for a upper A arm with the ball joint already in-place. Can anyone chime in on the dangers of pushing out the old Ball joint from the aluminum A-arm. Rare Parts makes an upper. I had them installed on one of mine. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005824.html You cannot use the cap to cover it, however. |

A good mechanic can handle the grooves so that they are not damaged taking out the old or putting in the new ones. I had both uppers and lowers installed. |

I got a PM from the orig poster and he said that Glen left Rare Parts about 3 months ago. I guess the ball got dropped after that.

I guess I should have said the "Ball JOINT" got dropped. I just found the bag that the uppers came in. I kept my old ones in that bag. Part number is RP13874A. My old ones look fine so if you are at a dead end, after you call Rare Parts with the part number, ?????? This message has been edited by ed monahan on 05-27-2020 at 01:13 AM |

After reading this thread, I took the initiative to send an e-mail to the folks at Rare Parts and ask about the status of upper ball joints for our cars. I told them that there is still an interest in moving forward with this project if it has been stalled and asked them to reply to me with an update or any information I could then post here for those interested. IF I hear anything, I will post their reply. |

I also got a set of the upper ball joints from rare parts. Not installed but have them in case at home. Glen from rare parts told me that the original cover on the upper ball joints will not fit, but anyway I got me a set. |

I got a reply from Rare Parts, I cut and pasted the message and will follow up as I learn more. Sorry for the delay in my reply. Yes, unfortunately Glen has left Rare Parts. As you may know, Glen was working at Rare Parts HQ before he decided to relocate to Idaho where he now lives. Luckily, he was able to work for Rare Parts for a few more years while he got situated. Glen’s a great guy! Getting back to the ball joints, I did some homework and we show a work order to manufacture more of the uppers. RP13874A is a good number and I will follow up with the shop in the morning. Anyways, thank you for the email and stay tuned for an update. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your questions.
