Optima Red Top. Do not cheap out. Prowler often sits, they are garage queens you know. Need to keep volts up to snuff to keep the PCM happy.

Gary, are you sure you need a new battery? 2 1/2 years is not very long for your current battery. A bad ground is common on these cars. Hate buying batteries.

That's how long I had the car, and it's the previous owner that had it. And by the looks of it, it looks like it's older then 5yrs.

I also was getting on my Viper Application Warning Alerts that battery was low. I though it was their battery on the device, but I was wrong, it was the car's battery that was going down.

I bought my first Optima battery for my Prius. I got it on eBay because it was a lot cheaper than a replacement Toyota battery. It takes a special battery with a vent and as far as I know Optima is the only company that makes a proper replacement.

Landscape Doctor, SOME are garage queens, mine is NOT! I drive mine almost every day. As for the battery, I have a Duralast and it has lasted quite awhile. Can't complain.

Our OEM Battery went dead within a few years(purchased Prowler new April 1999). I have had excellent luck with Sears batteries. I am only on my second one. That said who knows what the fate of Sears is going to be. Just these past few years I have started using a battery tender.

I am with ya. Plan on driving mine till my foot and leg falls off. Duralast is what I use in my trucks and they have been fine. I think for the folks that do not use there Prowler often or put in storage, the Opima is a better battery for that application. If you drive it on a regular basis throughout the year, the Duralast is ok because you are constantly keeping an eye on it.

Sam's Club sells Diehard Batteries. I think that is what Sears sells or do they have a Sears brand name battery also?

The ones I have been using are DieHard.

This is the battery tender that I have been using for the past couple years. Currently on sale at Northern Tools for $24.99. (half price)

I have been using Schumacher battery tenders for years and have had good luck with them. I have 11 of them. Maybe that is why my electric bill is so high.

My original Mopar battery that came with my '97 lasted 13 years and I only replaced it because I felt I was pushing my luck.

Always use a good quality battery tender, always.

Replaced the OEM battery last year after 13 years and went with a Duralast AutoZone carries.

I personally am not stuck on a brand of most things including batteries. I do buy the better battery because of cold cranking amps etc. from any company. I like Walmart batteries not because of the battery but because they treated me good once while I was on a trip with my Grand Marquis, it hesitated to start and I was 400 miles from home and they changed it out for me without any paperwork and gave me another 3 year warranty. There are plenty of Walmarts around if I ever have a problem again. Most batteries are made by just a few manufacturers anyway but this doesn't mean some aren't better than the others.
