Went to Autozone, since it was 5 minutes away driving. Didn't want to take any chances driving any further. They carried Optima there so I got that. I went with Optima Yellow. I read the differences, and since I use my iPhone as a navigation and play songs from it while it's pluged into the car. Took him 1 hour in the brutal cold to install the battery. The bottom piece where it prevents the battery to move took 45 minutes to secure it. The other 15 minutes was to do everything else. Thanks again everyone This message has been edited by DrillinU on 02-21-2015 at 06:01 AM |

Like a large number of aftermarket branded auto parts, there are a relatively small number of companies that actually produce the products. These companies then personalize the labels for many of the folks that sell them. I went to the Johnson Controls web page and did a cut and paste from their page for informational purposes. http://www.johnsoncontrols.com/content/us/en/products/power-solutions/battery-brands.html "Johnson Controls is the leading supplier of batteries to many of the largest aftermarket battery retailers, including Advance Auto Parts, DAISA S.A., AutoZone, Costco, NAPA, Interstate Batteries, Walmart and more. Powering virtually every type of passenger car, light truck and utility vehicle, our batteries are globally sold under private labels, as well as our own brands – VARTA®, Heliar®, LTH®, MAC®, Delkor® and OPTIMA®." I personally am not a fan of the Optima Batteries since I saw many returns and warranty replacements of this brand while working at an auto parts store. To be fair, a majority of the problem batteries belonged to the younger generation that can't or won't pay attention to little details like proper grounding of their high amperage stereo systems or hydraulic components in their low rider pick up trucks and cars. To date, I have had good luck with the Sears Die Hard labeled batteries but not great luck with the Advance Auto batteries which include their Gold or Titanium series. Sometimes I think it is all one big crap shoot and boils down to how an individual cares for their vehicle, circumstances, and luck. JMO |

Yes Andria, Johnson Controls was written on my Walmart battery and Exide is another major manufacturer. Here is the history of Optima battery. It says Johnson Controls bought Optima in 2000. http://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/about/brand-history This message has been edited by padroo on 02-21-2015 at 08:45 AM |
